Of course if you can run a 4.8 then tbh if go with that hands down due to the spec you'll find on them and tbh the noise.

Good luck.
You would say that!  ;)

The E53 4.8s sound so much nicer than the E70

Even more so with a custom exhaust...lol

Lol all. No probs though as of course while you're driving mine I'd obviously have to have a go with your motors too (purely for scientific experience of course).

Just thought I'd update this thread - I've now bought a car but it's not an E70 X5, I ended up with a 2010 F07 GT  :)

Yes, it's a little 'marmite' but it works for me. Will post some pictures shortly if anyone's interested.

Very nice, what engine and spec did you go for?  What made you change your mind about the X5?

Thanks Don,

It's the 3.0d (I did look at the 35d too but the spec wasn't as nice as the one I've picked up).

So, my GT is a 2010 car:

Deap Sea Blue
Ivory / Black interior with Anthracite headling

Spec - they all have a panoramic roof, 4 zone climate control, ambient lighting etc. Mine also has, off the top of my head:

- 20" alloys
- shadowline trim
- Dynamic pack (incl sports seats, think they're part of this pack)
- Visibility pack
- Professional nav with USB integration
- Reversing camera
- dark wood trim

The X5's I looked at both BMW AUC and from independent traders generally weren't as high spec or as neatly presented (scary how some people don't appear to look after their cars). Whilst I would have been more than happy with an E70, the modernity of the GT itself, e.g. based on the current model 7 series, the 8 speed box it's the interior of the F07 GT that really won me over.

It's a nice place to be inside and although not 4WD the driving position is great compared to a normal saloon car.
