Finglonga, thanks for posting the footage, the video from your car looks really good quality, however he music......well that's another issue.

You do not realise how many clips I went through to find one where I wasn't coughing, farting, belching, sniffing or shouting profanities. :-[

The wife has a Blackvue DR380G HD in her car
http://www.blackvuehd.co.uk/BlackVue_DR380G_HD.php.
I have a Akenori HD pro in the X6
http://www.exeros-technologies.com/car-cameras/akenori-car-camera.
Both are excellent cameras, mine has the advantage of a GPS speedo built in but the Blackvue is hard to spot due to its design. I also have a DOD GSE550 camera being used as a CCTV and that one has already paid for itself by catching the council smashing my window and a neighbours car being reversed into.

I do like the size of Blackvue - very discreet.
Also seen cheap ebay options from china, but they are a punt :'( Once bought a cheap gps from there for a few quid (£50 / 5 years ago), worked ok for 2 months then software kept freezing, got to be a real PIA - Ended up flung in the back of a drawer.
Not keen on fitting a cheap system, to then have probs, though accept that as a trial, without fully wiring up to vehicleis cheapie is an option.
The one thing I would like is the GPS capabilty with the option to switch GPS / speed off & just have camera as proof ---- just in case you have been a bit over speed limit ( as insurers would prob use footage against you).
thanks for replys, advice.

I had a look on ebay -dashboard recorders- there seem to be plenty ranging from £30 - £160.
I am definately getting one , there are hard wire, 12v ign activated supply if yon hunt with a meter where radio void is (remove radio) Have used this tapping for my aftermarket tyre pressure measuring and speed camera device.

I have one of these unused as I did not fit to my 40d and do not want to shoot out my warranty early doors on the 50d.
Includes rearview camera to mount on rear window, for the back enders you may experience (ooeer missus)
Also includes 4gb SD card and windscreen mount (if you don't like the 3m tape idea)
.
Make me an offer

Pics of the wifes Blackvue.
Very discreet from the front and is left in permanently.
Power side and the Micro SD card goes in this side.
There is a light ring that glows to show power is going to the unit and it is also a button to manually start parking mode if set up for it. The light is only on with ignition and can be turned off if required.

The Blackvue certainly is very discrete.
Did you install yourself? Where is the power feed coming from.

Looking good indeed.
Interesting choice of mirror attachments both of you have
)
I thought on the last picture that you had a cat in there for a moment ...

mirror stuff - personal choice - i don't like those dangly bits..
)
how about the rear and the sides - more cameras?
at this rate would cars start coming up with black boxes as oem, which record av and other info sources..

For two way systems you need one of these type thingies.....
Roadhawk Cameras.
The question being would you want your insurers seeing and hearing your thoughts on the incident..... :-[
These aren't HD devices though, probably due to recording two images simultaneously.
They don't work with the Mac either....not that anyone uses such a 'niche device' of course.......

Not the worst recorded accident, but typical of the type of people out there, that you need to protect yourself from.

Def getting one, just need to decide on what model & how much I want to spend ::)

A good example. But after watching the first video I then spent an hour looking through a load more.

Fitted it myself, routed the wire from the power socket, under the dash, behind the trim up the A pillar and under the roof lining to the dome light down the screen to the camera.
If you have a few hours to spend type in "car crash compilation" into YouTube.
