My 3.0 diesesel is insured through LV Frizzel, with discount for being a member of The Civil Service Motoring Association (extra 10%) all in £391.79, excess £250. 44 year old, 3 points SP30, parked on drive, fully comp, social domestic and pleasure including class 3 business use (to and from work, and office to office), cover for partner, factory security, no modifications. I always tell them I have a clean licence and tell them later about SP30, instantly know how much I'm getting loaded for the speeding penalty. My 3 points cost me £38.01. I had quotes from £1,300 to £300. Cheapest was Direct Line, but insisted I have a tracker fitted, most expensive Aviva, BMW Insurance £890. Tried all the usual suspects, Fat opera singer, Alexander Orlov, Funky Supermarket! Hope this helps.

Recent renewal for me - Kwik Fit Insurance brokered to Aviva I think at around £300 for year. Was over half price of my Tesco renewal quote and with slightly less excess!

By chance the renewal notice came in yesterday for £809 from Axa Direct.  Rang them and they dropped to £728.  Explained that they were still a fair way off the best figure I've had so far.  Salesman said to give them a call before going with someone else.  Why?  If they had given me a better price there and then and not nessacerily the lowest but in and around £660-£670 I would have sealed the deal.

Why do people pay their insurance monthly through their insurance company? They whack on a % for their 'credit'....get a 0% Credit Card for purchases on 12 months....sorted, paid in one go and NOT paying interest

I was with Liverpool Victoria,( LV) when I swapped the E60 for the E53. They wouldn't cover me for the E53 unless I had a tracker fitted.
I cancelled with them, 30 quid admin fee and went back to Swift Cover.
I now pay 500 quid for me and the Mrs, protective no claims, fully Comp. (250 excess ). That was their renewal price in November as well, so I have stayed with them for another year ( I'm 49 though and have full NCB )
It pays to do all the comparison sites every year though, as they jack the price up if they think you wil stay with them and just accept the renewal quotes.

My insurance is due on the 14th and last year paid £472 full comp with swift cover, this years renewal quote is £347.  Almost £130 cheaper! Result. Will try and shop around, but suspect I won't get it cheaper.

Forgot to mention, that includes my misses as a named driver with no claims bonus of her own.

Oh, the joy of cheap insurance.  As much as I enjoy living in Northern Ireland, the cost of insurance is not a positive factor over here!  I've chosen to go with a local broker £725. This includes protected no claims, and what they describe as a 5star cover plan.  As well as the usual legal, windscreen cover, they also cover the likes of wrong fuel, roadside punctures, lost keys, running out of fuel and almost anything else that you can think of on a stupid level that could happen.
