At least you know for almost certain that sweet f a was done before you got it then.. :x Glad they're getting somewhere now at least. Let's hope it is only that the cat needs a bath as I suspect it won't be cheap either.

Have you any comeback on where you got it from?

Bought it from auto care Northampton

Who obviously didn't care, they have wages their hands of it and accept nil responsibility,

I'm tempted to contact previous owners and ask them reasons for selling etc

I would def ring previous owners. I had a car in for 2 weeks due to various issues and never fixed. Tracked down last owner and said it had new engine and it didn't like the air con being used.

We then had a reliable car once we knew what we were fixing.

Could save a lot of time and money if they already had it diagnosed

Today I am a happy man.

BMW Called earlier,

The issues with the Missing is all but resolved.

They have locked it down to the Catalytic Converter on the Drivers Side, which in turn caused the missing, which in turn caused the electrical issue.

As the lambda was diagnosing and issue, which sent signal to ECU, which caused a voltage spike, which caused the battery light.

Charges
£189:00 – Full Service – Including Flushes – Changed Oil – Cleaned Inside Engine – Changed All Filters
£80:00 – Remove Exhaust – Try and clean Catalytic Converter – Diagnostics – Running car – Additional Checks

In my opinion a bargain, given what I had spent previously at other Garages.

Need new Catalytic Converter - unfortunately BMW price is £847:00

So will get one from another source, and BMW are happy to fit it.

So this time next week, all sorted and faith restored.

Must say I'm particularly impressed by BMW Customer Service (Mick) at Cooper BMW Sunderland.

Dropped car off on Monday 23/4 - They took me home instead of getting a Taxi
Rang me up many times to keep me informed of progress, also few calls regarding authorisation to do different work.
They are also dropping car off for me later to my home.

Will keep you updated when new Catalytic Converter Fitted.

Sounds like you have found a good Dealer, but the supplier needs dealing with. I'm not sure that legally they can just wash their hands of all this. I thought that a least some sort of warranty or purchase protection has to be available. Perhaps a call to your local Trading Standards Office for advice might help?

That's a lot for a cat, but then it's BMW so not surprising. Never looked, but there must be other sources

Supplying dealer sold a car not fit for purpose. I would defiantly pursue them to get something back

Day 1,242,987

13:36 PM

(Mackem Accent) - Big Brother

Cat Arrived, however will not fit,

The one I require is a part which is only available from BMW @ £££££

So the company I bought it from are going to re-manufacture mine.

They will use the new CAT - into my old exhaust.

Few more days till it comes back..

Watch this space.

It never ever is. Hopefully be sorted soon though and still at a cost saving over the OE one.
