where's the fuel flter on the diesel guys?
Is it under the sill near the front of the passenger door?

Yesterday I saw a small a5/a4 paper size aluminium plate/sheet near there hanging down. I don't recall it hanging down before though it did feel loose as if it had correded on one edge. I bent it up temporarily. Struggled to find the plate on OEM...the nearest I found was akin to the cost of oil change in the falklands to replace

Straight from the BMW TIS. It appears to be somewhere near the alternator..

How to change the fuel filter - TIS

@ Sanj, you should know that inji.......engyn.....spanerr turners kant spel..We need piktures and then we're hapy....... :D

It comes from the well known Engineer's Mantra - "Six months ago I couldn't spell injineer, now I are one".

Strictly speaking, that might be changed to 'Injuneer' depending upon local origin, as month can be changed to 'mumff' for Essex.....or the Gatwick area.

Cheers for that.....it's worse than the old Haynes Manual.....apart from the "mind the alternator" that picture is so poor it could be anywhere...like in the glovebox :D

Speaking of which...is there a Haynes manual for the X5 diesel...or was it too posh and not as easy as a Ford Capri 8-)

ahh....in this fuel cooler replace it mentions removing pipes from fuel filter....and shows a wider angle picture. The beggar appears to be between the engine and strut tower....ish

Definitely no Haynes Manual. Not too posh, too bl@@dy complicated! Other Beemers yes, but not this one.. :x

The only manual for the X5 that has so far appeared is the 'Bentley Manual', but being American has no information on the diesel versions. There is probably a lot of common info shared between petrol and diesel cars, but no specifics and of course the steering wheel is also on the wrong side.

But then of course you need to read this to go with it and it makes sees why there's no manual..

So the technics got down to business, discovered by 2005 (June) had the old breather so had to make a quick stop to BMW who have raised the price off the breather to £56 all in. Breather, Air Filter and Pollen filter all changed took just over 2 hours, not bad for a bunch of techie's :-)

Still one green light so rest of the service can wait but all parts ready to go.
