Worsy, hope all goes well for u today :driving:

PVR understand what u are saying second hand main dealer prices are just mental.
That why we eventually decided to go for a new one, for that wee bit extra £notes u get the car in the colour and spec u want with no mileage, full 3yr warranty and latest model year changes. I know its not possible for everyone :| . However we managed to get a good discount on the new list, and we would never have got the same value knocked of a used car.

Also contacted dealer who has uodated delivery to them of 1st week in Dec :)

What discount % are they offering in general terms now? I got 13% off my M when I bought it, but next to nothing from the X5 at the time.

I have budgetted for a new car next year, just need to think whether 911 to replace the M or a new X5 to replace the existing one.

I managed 9% plus the support from BMW which was Panoramic Roof (£1500). It's now Nav on offer which is over 2k, ho hum.

Total discount with BMW media pack worked out at 15% of list.
List was 63850 (with service pack) and price paid 54250. Really worked hard to get the deal and had couple dealers sharpening the pencil & competing to get best possible deal for me.
TBH I think this is where there break even point is (15.5%) as I found out the profit was less than couple hundread quid - though all their over heads etc will be covered at that break even point. Getting any more would prob only possible if you find a dealer who needs to sell a car below margin to achieve QTR sales figures to get BMW cash/bonus kickback. I think this happened with MJim who managed £10K of a £64/65k car. :crazydude: sweet.
Perhaps next year BMW main may be offering larger discounts but over the years the cost media (£2400 or so) is the best I've seen, its either that or free pano roof, low finace etc.
They are doing a 50-50 deal at moment where you pay 50% of price now and the other 50% final payment in 2 years time. Though you don't get the media pack discount if you opt to buy this way.

Negociate for the best deal though and don't be to shy, lets face it dealers have had years of easy sales and creaming profits from gullible customers paying list or close to it. Thats how they built up huge franchises with glossy glass covered showrooms. The shoes on the other foot for savvy buyers now ;) . As long as you have a bit cash / equity you don't need to take their finance / purchase packages and you call the shots & remember you can always choose to say no, I'll wait.

I have a mate who bought a new Audi A5 30K+ from main dealer and understandably was wobbling a bit just at the close of the deal (was an Audi afterall  ). The salesman basiclly shouted at him "LOOK CAN YOU AFFORD TO BUY THIS CAR OR NOT?" in earshot of his wife, me & my wife, embarissing / pressurising him to sign on the line. I was ready to go over and give the guy the back of my hand across his jaw :violent1: and my wife pulled me back telling me its not my decision and let my mate do what he wants. In the end he bought the car and the salesman didn't last long at that dealership (no wonder).

But remember up to the point of signing the deal you can vote with your feet and walk away if you dont get the deal you want (though u need to be realistic  ).
