I told the BMW tech that my £100 Tom Tom is far superior, and his response was that that wasn't the first time he'd been told that and that he couldn't really disagree. It really is a shame as you'd have thought that you'd get something extra for your £2000, whereas it clearly is all about making easy money for them. I did manage to get a 50% refund from BMW however, but that's still £1000 I've spent on it.
Re the channel tunnel, it seemed to find that fine for us (maybe the more up to date maps I keep getting?) but it did send us the wrong way for half an hour on the way back (autoroute to Paris rather than Calais) = wasted hour including the return leg after we'd spotted the error. If you give customer services enough grief you should be able to get free updates as I do - they know it's a rubbish system even if they pretend otherwise.

I've been contacted by BMW to have my maps updated foc to the 2013 data (as I complained re how useless the maps are they agreed to keep doing this until fully resolved). It's never made the slightest difference to date so I'm not holding my breath. I would have thought the software and maps would be sorted by now - you would have thought BMW and Navteq could have come up with a half decent system instead of one that falls way short of a £100 tomtom!
Will also get the winter wheels put on at the same time so watch out for some freak hot weather coming your way...

Would like to know the update. The fact that I can not travel via the Eurotunnel is something that amazes me as the E53 did that perfectly fine.
Strange thing is when I go into the tunnel, it then decides that we go via the "motorised railway link" but it will not route via that.

Ours had the tunnel PVR - is it a setting you've not checked?

I just checked my current sat nav (pre the pending update) and when I selected avoid ferry crossings in the menu it flagged an error and didn't have any alternative. I had a sat nav refresh in April this year so if mogsyman's system has the tunnel in it I would have thought mine would too. I'll let you know if the update fixes this, but as I've said none of the previous 3 updates have made any noticeable difference. It's what really frustrates me in that 'customer services' keep telling me that yes it is frustrating but don't know what more can be done. Grrrr !! >:D
When I went to Europe via the tunnel last year, I input the postcode for the Eurotunnel which worked fine, but is a bit annoying that it doesn't select the tunnel automatically.

Mogsy - how did you select tunnel? I specifically checked the box to avoid ferries and when I set the route, it tells me that there is a ferry on the way.
How did you select it? Just have selected the fastest route to NL for example.

Now have the 2013 Premium maps. Channel Tunnel is there on the map, but still isn't reflected in the routing i.e. if you deselect ferries then it flags an error. The maps have improved so Westfield White City now features as does a 300 year old address that hadn't been in there till now. Other addresses I tried that it hadn't previously reflected are still not there.
So it's better, but still cr*p.

Can you ask them HOW you can do a routing through the tunnel? Mogsyman seemed to think you could do it, but I can not see how.

Only way as I see it is to input the postcode for the tunnel terminal (what I did last winter) and then set the Europe destination once on the other side. I'll feed back the specific tunnel omission when I next speak to cust services.
