If the OP permits, can we change the title of this thread to reflect ABS sensors? Would make a good point of reference for future searches? Some good info here...
If so, pvr - you'll have to do some work for a change!

Just one more thing to annoy you!
Can the search option be given the ability to see 3 letters? Put in 'abs' and it won't help...
Feel free to ban me.

Maybe you should be buying mens health instead of searching on here for that.

Today when driving along I seem to be getting the same problem again!
My speedo is temperamental, my brake light and abs lights came on. Could the sensor really be nakered already? or could this be yet another bloody sensor?
Please help

hmm, i might have just found this thread just in time!
after 10 minutes of driving i am getting the warning gong and message "dsc 4x4 inactive" flashing up. the car still drives normally though.
if ive read correctly i need to investigate the nearside front abs sensor.. which i will do asap.

Problem resolved!
Today I removed the near side rear abs/speed sensor and gave it a good clean up with brake cleaner. Also cleaned down inside the hole where the sensor fits into and cleaned the connection plug and gave it a quick spray with WD40.
Knew the sensor wasn't faulty as it's only a couple of months old.
Did take some pics, so will get them up asap.

Same symptoms as i had fella...for me it was the front nearside iirc. The front two are the same (not sure on the rears) so you could swap them to check if a clean up doesn't work.
All you need is an allen key to take the sensor out.
Good luck.

Nice one Andy

. It's so satisfying when it's a simple fix and you don't have to take it to a garage

i had that exact thing, passanger side rear abs sensor 99%. they are also cheaper than a battery even oem, try resting the steering angle sensor google it but only takes 2 mins you turn lock to lock running or ignition (cant remember), i went through all them tries, you can test all the abs sensors from under the bonnet with a multi meter, ignion off pull big black multiplug from abs unit, 20 or so wires all numbered than google which pairs are which sensors because they are randomly placed and you will get e.g 3&8 front left, 2&13front right (THATS AN EXAMPLE), then with the meter on ohms (think again google) you will then get three with the same rough reading, and one with a totally obscure reading and thats the culprit or in your case it confirms it as yours has to be nearside rear as you have lost speedo and mpg, hpe thats of use

Does anyone have a picture of the ABS Sensor (andym3's pics don't show up)? I'm trying to find it on RealOEM with little success.
Think it's the reason for my yellow 4x4 light on the dash.
