My understanding is that oil levels should be measured hot and that goes for gearboxes and engines! Drive for about 30 mins, let it stand for a few then check I drive and the dipstick levels for the engine oil. If over the top on the dipstick when hot then there's your answer!

Correct Graeme.
Dipping when cold isn't going to give you the reading you need... it expands when hot and so if showing full at cold, it'll be overfull when warm / hot.
No dipstick on mine, so have to trust the iDrive.

Thanks guys, questions answered. I'll get a cheapo syringe and some hose and get some pulled out!
