I really want to take my mrs E53 4.4 to them just for a laugh to see if they can get the battery out with the LPG tank on top of it.
It took me and my cousin best part of 3hrs to get the tank out and change the battery, only to find there was no difference once it was changed for a good battery. Still have a long cranking on start up so thinking it could be the starter motor or igintion switch?

Halfords spotty yoofs won't change all car batteries- if there is something like an LPG tank in the way, they'll just refuse, I guess its not worth the fitting fee to them!! Same goes for wipers and headlight bulbs etc. They have a list of cars they refer to and which they refuse instantly, and others, if they see its not going to be an easy job, they will say they can't do it. If you arrive too early after opening or close to closing time or on a weekend, they will also refuse, stating they don't offer "fitting services" at these times........
I don't bother with them any more as they are so useless and unhelpful - will buy spares there as a last resort, or special offers - like the jack recently, or roof box I got in the last sale, but never ask for any fitting of bulbs etc. I've noticed them asking if I want bulbs etc fitted far more often these days...sign of the times and Halfords poor financial performance???

jeeez, this thread should be renamed halfords haters!! understandably they will not work on cars where the headlight would possibly need to be removed (thus allignment issues possibly) or lpg tanks etc as its more specialised and totally not their (spotty youths as some refer) fault as that would go above and beyond the training which they have been provided with, which is understandable and not really their fault more so the actual main management. would you go near an lpg tank if you had no prior knowledge of the workings or systems?? i think not.
