I think most people have had nothing but trouble from these third party warranty companies - they are not in it to pay expensive repairs after all, they are there to maimise profits for the owners and pay as little as they can get away with!!

I've stuck with the BMW Extended Warranty after the AUC warranty period ended - I know its Mondial who are 3rd party providers, but they are very heavily linked to BMW and less likely to weasel out of anything and everything as they have huge contracts with BMW and Mercedes.  I took a Warranty Direct policy on my previous X, only used 3 months of the Luxury Cover (I think it was around £450)  and when I cancelled when buying my new X , they only refunded £50 after taking off massive "admin" and "cancellation" fees.  I think all 3rd party warranty providers are a bunch of crooks or dodgy at best.  My previous X came with a VGS Warranty - never used it thankfully. I'll never go WD again after the last little "sharp practice" I was subjected to - I'd rather put some money into a savings account every month as an emergency fund!!!
[/quote]Just thought we all could have a (laugh) thought WD quote Feb 13 £135, August '13 re quote £265,now only cover to offer 'Major' £490 ?? 4.4i -2003 -111.300  when quoted Feb 109.250 ,Aug 110.450,and that's only for 9mths no claimed looked at for the first 3months.

I did contact then and warranty wise.

Warranty direct £430 warranty wise £480 via websites the had a call form warranty direct and they could do the price for £350 said thank you but no as covered car for £295,I may look at the option next year,

I have previously taken out an AA breakdown warranty £170 covers 4 cars up to £500 per claim. Had a problem with smart car rear drum brakes and they only pay for the parts on the damage side and labour for that side less the £35 excess so that worked out at about £25 so I didn't hither to claim.

However this time the car is in for repair and it needs a new part and hopefully they will cover it as it's £400 + vat so any help is appreciated. If they try to get out of it then I don't renew with them for that or car recovery losing them about £350 a year so we shall see how good they are by comparison.

I took out the WD cover. 2005 3.0D with 81k on the clock. Paid £400 for 13months (extended to 16 if no claim in first 3 months).

I got them to agree 100% of parts and labour, and to agree that should anything need to be removed to get to damaged parts then this is also covered. It is via their network but I think this will save hassle should I need to claim.

My understanding of WD is that they will agree anything to get the business but geting them to cough up if something goes wrong may prove difficult. The wording in their policy is 'iffy' to say the least, she I questioned the IDrive not being covered they casually agreed to cover FOC, no detail though, very vague, and I bet they would fight in the event of a claim.

The main thing that put me off is the constant hassle and hard selling, they phone once or twice a day and when I told them I'd gone to BMW Insured they still hassle right up to the 14 day cooling off period.
