Thanks for all the replies everyone, was really helpful.

I'm planning to order the car from a UK importer, LHD, for use in Europe. He said to go to the BMW website and just build a car and he'll get a price and place the order - 16 weeks to delivery.

I'm then assuming this would be the F16 model, if it's coming direct from the German plant? It's definitely a question to ask the dealer though, so thanks for flagging that.

From the comments looks like:

LED lights and high beam assist
comfort seats
tinted glass all round (we live in a warmer climate than the UK)
4 way A/C
B&O audio upgrade
19" wheels for family comfort ride ;)
heads up display
Pro Nav is now standard on the X6 (looks like)
Connected Drive (for the cool remote options)
towbar
rear view camera

Now just have to get the wife to pick the colours and trim ;)

As nice as the Golf maybe, I think I'd rather be cruiseing up and down the A90 in the 50d.

Quite. Just pop into Fofar, and Perth for a top up.  ;)

All X5 & X6 (and X3) are made in the US so your car will come from Spartanburg, SC.

Why not order it on the Continent?  UK site does not yet list the 40d in the 'build system' if that was the dealer suggestion.  Model year will change in the next couple of weeks or so to the 2016 model.

Comfort Seat Packagae
Bi Xenon with Adaptive and High Beam Assist
Head Up Display
Upgraded Suspension Package is supposed to vastly improve handling.
Sun Protection Glass
Auto Tail Gate.

That's just some...

Forget Xenon.  You want full LED.  HID bulbs are sooooooo last decade  :))

The rest are OK.  If you can, test drive one before committing to the suspension upgrade.  The minor handling improvement may well be lost to the rattling ride on our bad UK roads!
