What brand tyres?
Have you checked the tyre pressures yourself?

Re: transfer box chain
bmw in york did it, main dealer, said all was well, i have little bit play in the front prop u/j nearest the trans box,
Re: transfer box chain
So we can rule out bad calibration, is it not brakes clunking? Could be play in prop....

Could still be tyres as we don't know if he fitted 'star' marked tyres.....

235 / 45 / 19 Front
255 / 40 / 19 Rear
The only 'star' marked tyres I found when looking were Pirelli PZero Rosso for original fitment. They do the front and back.
Michelin also do the rears as 'star' marked but not fronts....they Michelin Pilot Sport2.

Re: transfer box chain
ok, here goes, went to our local tyre place, had the front tyres measured, and the back changed, same make new tyres, noise gone in all circumstances but an occasional clunk at low speed in traffic, this i can live with, but i,m confused, will change the front prop soon, and change the auto box oil and filter, but a result i think ???. davey
Re: transfer box chain
Dearest Gurus, So I have now shipped my X3 also to Trinidad, where the roads aren't without it's faults
I have been thinking to steer away from the run flats I got to normal tyres, and increase too 50 in front and 45 to the rear. Would that be an issue? keeping the ratio the same but increasing the profile. Thanks.

Re: transfer box chain
The critical bit will get to maintain the rolling diameter across all four wheels. If you get that wrong the differentials will fail due to over stressing - and possibly the gearbox/transfer box. Your speedo etc will also be out. The correct size options are on the tyre pressure labels normally on the B-pillar, driver's side.
Move away from those sizes with caution.
