Hi Chris,
Many thanks for loading my pics,
The mudflaps from Amazon can be sourced by looking up the seller name on the image before this post.

Rear Tail gate (lower), & Roof spoiler (upper) were from (Flea-Bay) some Eastern state, Thailand or some place for about £85 delivered... they both needed a bit of work to get them to fit due to being removed from the mould plug before they were fully cured, but look OK me thinks,

The rear valence skirt trim & side-splitter mouldings came from the Czech republic (Flea-Bay) for about another £70, and fitted with very little work at all... and plastic riveted in place after spraying & clear-coating.

Re the mud-flap set, there is a recess in the front face of all 4 flaps, which I am sticking some Black AstroTurf, similar to what the HGV's use to minimise road spray. The AstroTurf door matt arrived this morning & is destined to be chopped up on the next dry day to fit to the flaps....
I fixed the flaps to the original arch inners with Drill-Screws supplied, but replaced these with 7mm plastic push expanding rivets/grommets, as the screw fixing was a little flimsy I felt... no chance of the flaps coming off now !
Will be interesting if My X5's fat arse will stay a little cleaner for a little longer !!!!
We will see....

Well, each to their own & admittedly, the lines of the vehicle are totally blown away now, and i must admit that i do miss the sleek original look...
But, ive had to get practical and bolted all sorts to mine.
I do about 1100 miles most weeks, and totally sick of washing this truck and having filth stuck all over the sides & windows & rear end.
I can spend 3 hours washing & polishing... to ruin the job in 10 minutes driving...  >:(

So mud flaps it is, and the rugged look now,
as opposed to the sleek look...

Mileage....
The joys of contract engineering..... however....
we can both agree that we have a damned good vehicle to do the miles.

Truth be known, ive had a Cayman, Mugen Civic, Crossfire, TVR and a few others... but the X5 Sport is by far the most enjoyable of all... lots of luxury, big street presence, and with good servicing is very reliable.

Must admit, I kinda like the rears...

But really keen to know if they improve the dirt covered back end of the X5, fingers crossed.

The weekend polishing only to be ruined  10 mins into the morning commute is exactly why I asked the question in the first place!

Mudflap appraisal....

Results are pretty good, the mudflaps on their own reduced the rear end grunge by only a small amount...
Then I stuck in some Black Astro-Turf matting as per HGV1 mudflaps, and the rear end spray dropped significantly, and rear mirror view was much better as a result....
As yet, it's been raining on the vehicle since, and I think the loose dirt is washed off...

The road/tyre spray is Significantly reduced once the matting is in the rear vertical wall of the wheel arches & the flaps... The Plastic Turf Matting is the key.
I bought a black Astro-Turf door mat for £20 off Flea-Bay and cut it to fit & fixed it in place with impact adhesive... stuck securely, and could be yanked out if I needed to pull out the inner arches for some reason one day.

Regards to all following this post.
