Buying an E70 xDrive40D: advise needed

I've just had mine mapped and I'd say it's pretty rapid , I'm sure it'd shock a lot of high performance cars !
Still crave a bit more power though , makes me wonder if I should have bought the x5m or if there's even more power available from mapping ?

700Nm is indeed the torque limit on the gearbox - unless you fit the Rolls-Royce variant which can cope with 1,000Nm! You can put all the power you like into it, but if you over-torque it then things break expensively.

I'm hearing you
Really don't want to be breaking an 8sp box , it'll be insanely expensive .
I'm convinced there's a LOT more power to be had from the engine / turbos and with some quality mapping , more power could be released higher up in the rev range whilst still keeping torque within gearbox limits .

Already been doing the research , they make 430ish with a map , absolutely astonishing from a 3ltr diesel that'll do 40mpg in a 2.2t car !!!!
Ps sorry to the OP for hijacking your thread !

40 mpg??? I think the BMW blurb states 42 mpg from the F15 M50d, my missus who drives like an undertaker (when she's not kerbing the wheels), struggles to get above 30 in ours. I don't know how BMW arrive at those figures.

Re: Buying an E70 xDrive40D: advise needed
40+mpg is a laboratory figure. They just cannot be achieved on the road and the 'official' tests have long since been shown to be valueless but will make Governments miss their carbon targets if the truth were actually published. Car manufacturers have to reduce their average overall carbon footprints across their car products so they aren't keen on accurate tests either. Take 25% off it for 'real world' driving.
There is a whole new global test system being planned which should be more accurate but as ever different companies, countries and ministers with vested interests are all arguing about it!

If I've seen 38mpg in my e70 then I'm pretty sure I could get 40mpg from the newer , cleaner model.
Might take a nice stretch of road and a steady 65mph though .

So finally picked it up today. Very pleased with the car.
First order of the day, get it valeted professionally to get rid of the cigarette smells which the stealer promised they would sort out. I can still smell it. Thinking of contacting these guys as they are quite local to me:

If anyone has any recommendation that would be great.

Change the pollen filter too if the dealer hasn't.
Hope you can shift the smell, nothing worse than a smelly motor!
Cheers
