Feeling for the gases is more effective. You will feel it blowing warm exhaust gas.

I read that the Webasto will cut out or not start once the water circuit reaches a pre set temperature (part load 72°C and idle 76.5°C) so it will depend how much heat is left in your car at the time of testing.

Bend down and feel at the baby exhaust when staring from cold in the morning to be sure.

I also get no red light fan led lighting up etc. Will try the reset approach disconnecting fuse etc in morn as mentioned previously. Strange thing I can't understand is the unit gets really warm when car is started but I literally see no fumes out of mini exhaust?? How is that possible????

can anyone help???? i did the aux heater reset by removing fuse 59 for 30 seconds whilst key in position 1. the heater now starts up and interior fan led flashes, interior fan starts. All is well for roughly 5 minutes then it all cuts out and all over??? cant understand it, battery is 2 months old, but oblivious to all this the external factors such as ext temp, battery, fuel level shouldnt matter when running via aftermarket remote feed to pin 1. what would be causing it to stop just as it gets going?? hear lots of whirring from unit, clicking from under car, never really see gases out of mini exhaust, help me........

Hi, I'm no expert but it sound like the unit is going through it's firing sequence but is not igniting. It will then purge itself & shut down. You may find it then goes to lock-out & you will need to reset it again.
Mine was doing something similar, making all the noises but not firing & i've just had the unit replaced under warranty. The local indy that replaced mine plugged his laptop in & it came up ''02 combustion air fan''
I may be wrong but I think the reason it will get hot anyway with the engine running is because the coolant water will circulate around the heater as well ?
Have you tried putting your hand near the small exhaust either when starting the car from cold or when firing via your remote ? You should feel warm or hot fumes coming from here within a few minutes, if not it's definately not firing up.
Hope you get it sorted.
Phil.

sounds plausible, strange though as i havent reset mine since and its working every time just not staying on, interior fan starts, clicking noise underneath car, webasto makes all right noises and increases in speed etc?? surely this can be fixed without replacing whole unit?? surely there is some way of splitting unit apart to try repairing it?? anyone??

C'mon BLO2WAS. You've looked, you've listened but not yet confirmed you have felt for the warm gases. Make sure it is working when you start the car from cold by doing this or you will just chase your tail needlessly.

OK. Stating the obvious but you may need proper diagnostics if the unit will not start with the engine.

Just one point while you are checking, three failures to start locks out the unit on error. In which case you will need to pull the fuse again.

I'm tempted to whack mine also.

My thoughts are if you are getting flow from the exhaust then combustion must be surely causing it? It takes a while before the flow gets warm in this weather. Does the exhaust pipe feel warm at the heater end in the engine bay?

which pipe is the exhaust?? there are that many on it and two seem to enter the wing. one on top which starts as metal hose then goes into wing as plastic hose after connecting to rither a filter or just joiner with webasto written on it. i dont think mine is running ling enough to get heat there. lookung on ebay these units do habe serviceable parts such as new glow plug, thermocouple (flame detector) etc so its going to be fixed defo!!!

[quote=""ChewingBacca""]It's too dark to check right now but will have a look tomorrow.

BTW where are you getting the diagrams from? RealOEM HERE are different viewing angles.

These are pictures of mine, slighly more complcated than yours, but I do have the same valve, when I get chance this week, I will unplug the valve to see if I get the same error.

I have an Ebespacher in my boat and it is a very similar system to the Webasto.
I had ignition problems with mine and eventually found the fuel was not getting thro'

SO : check there is NOT an airlock in the feed pipe, I bled mine by slackening fuel feed pipe at the unit head and then operated the pump
by connecting the 2 wires to a seperate 12 v battery and flashing 1 lead on the terminal , took a while, but eventually fuel came out of the pipe at the head unit.
reconnected all bits and it fired up straight away.

Indeed there is quite a difference. What is that in the foreground of pic 1 that I don't have on my '04 diesel?

I would appreciate if you could recreate the error as this will greatly help diagnose my problem.

Apparently its a fuel filter and fuel cooler, mines 2 years older than your so maybe you don't need one!
