Mirror all of that x5sport.

I played back the same thing, via desk lady, to their senior tech, very poor knowledge indeed when I, a part time diy mech, knows more that the best of the best within the main dealer. Knew there was a reason I was very hesitant to use them lol.

Didn't mention the torque convert to bmw, but did to my indie chap. He says its not that, no codes for box, wouldn't drive as well as it does, and wouldnt sound louder at idle. But I had same thought to, so said I'd get him to change the aft to be sure, and Indi chap strongly advised against it, even though he was turning down cash.

I'm still lingering in the exhaust blockage, as can't explain why opening EGR at idle makes it sound normal again. Think I'll drill the pipe and patch with a bandage type so can get to a garage to weld it back up. But after that, I haven't a clue what next.

In case it helps others (as I couldn't find anything to help other than others readings) the paperwork from Beemer checks offers the below expected parameters:

Boost pressure set points (not sure why there 2 minimum targets):

Minimum value 1 = 1748
Minimum value 2 = 1828
Maximum value = 2398

And

Boost pressure = ambient pressure max difference of + or - 50mbar (I assume this is at idle lol)

Booked a carbon clean for tomorrow, see if that helps.

Will hopefully drill exhaust this weekend to, have bought 02 sensor weld in nut thing and blanking plug with some metalweld putty as do not have electric or a welder so will have to poxy the holder in to plug the hole lol.

Fingers crossed!

02 sensor mount welded in pre cat, and with it unplugged, it doesn't seem to have helpedĀ  :'(

I'll take her on a longer drive tomorrow, and try with it plugged and unplugged, but to be honest, I don't think it's shown the issue.

Anyone got any other suggestions? As the 4 shops, including bmw, have all come up blank now!

So, drove longer way today with bung in, then bung out on way back.

Apart from some strange noises with the bung out, especially when getting off the gas after a blast, driving with bung out makes gear changes smoother, less jerky and seems to change a bit better rev wise, ie a bit earlier under light throtal.

What could this mean, cat is restricted?

However, I did get a trans failsafe prog error and limp mode activated on way back after about 20 miles of bung out driving. It reset with a switch off and on again. Never had this before. Could it be because of bung being out, or is it unrelated and a sign of box issues (which I guess could be partially causing power and noise issues?).

Thanks all

Digging up an old thread but did this ever get sorted?
