I'd take no notice all cars have issues whatever the make or model. I've got a 3.0i but would have loved a 4.6is but they didn't do them in a manual so 3.0i was the obvious choice.
Enjoy the V8 and don't worry about his comments. Is find a good Indy garage in your area and avoid the dealers they tend to employ young kids who've never seen cars older than 3 years so have no clue diagnosing them.
PS I've worked in dealers so know the score.

Adjustable suspension can be an issue and I have known of 1 possibly two that have had engine issues - nothing widely reported reliability wise that would put me off the 4.6is.

I read somewhere that the 4.6is has a different  torque convertor to the 4.4i preface lift....no other specific 4.6is issues and other issues generally affect other E53's too.

Fwiw I can recall a guy on the forum before this one who had a 3.0i and I lost count of the issues it suffered.

Some of it is down to being sympathetic with the car, some down to maintenance and preventive care and a fair bit arguably down to luck ;)
