I've looked at mine and i have 2 bump stops on the outer edge of the tailgate on the body so the tailgate sits on them
should there be 2 more on the tailgate latch ??

yes mate, one either side of the lock, I have only got the one. If Cotswold's don't come through muggins will be off to B&Q for some bodging materials! After 3 yrs I have had enough of the rattle!

Haha yeah it's been driving me nuts, just hope it's what is causing the rattle.
As for your other issue, there is a solution but it's a tad more expensive

Changed mine, £30 for the pair and the annoying rattle is still there (and no the Mrs was indoors at the time

)
Back to the drawing board, strip out everything from the boot and see what happens (when I can be bothered that is!)

I found one of the bolts that holds down the air compressor had came slack , i think that made a difference when tightened

Hi
I also had a slight rattle so replace with OEM BMW parts (at tradeprices via my mate) and he fitted them and never had a rattle after that, but it's worth checking when you close the boot it then pulls the boot tight ensuring no rattle.

Got mine from Cotswold BMW the new ones are a bit longer but checked and the door closes correctly. Wonder if the chimp at Halfords who fitted my battery replaced everything.....
