If your still needing a pair of front tyres Ive got a pair in the forsale section.

Changed my 21" to Dunlop non run flats on advice from other forums and they are good cost £1250 a year ago, will need new fronts soon.  With the profile so slim, it has to make a difference on a heavy motor.

Only had the E70 three weeks and picked up a nail in the rear tyre sidewall  :rant:
It's a 20inch 315 too.

I can't go for non run flat as mine is a 7 seater and has no spare.
Since the wife drives it with kids on board a lot I want her to be able to get somewhere safe in the event of a puncture, albeit slowly.

So I just shelled out £330 for one Bridgestone Run-flat tyre to match the other rear. Gulp.

But to be honest, I would always go for the best tyres I could afford. Always have.
Tyres and brakes you shouldn't cut corners on.

Totally agree with your decision.  I have to change the X6 set (same size) this year and am expecting a bill of around £1,200.  Tyres are something I also am very choosy about - more so now I have a kid too.

The only time I had a puncture so far was in the tread area and it was fixed.

I have to disagree a little re tyres, price doesnt , ean safer/better, all new tyres have ratings in a chart, I havent bought car tyres now for a while but recently put tyres on the van and the ones that were £39 each +vat had a better rating on every single item than the tyres the garage showed me that were up towards £100 a corner, luckily I knew him and he showed me all the options. 

Tbh I would rather have some new cheap tyres than some of these barely even legal part worns you see people buying to save money

For reference Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport run flats have the same wet rating of B as Falken FX453's and Hankook Ventus S1 EVOK107's.

For a couple of years now tyre manufacturers have to put a label on the tyre giving a rating for economy, wet grip and noise.

thats the ones, my mate i garage was showing how interesting they are in that price means nothing, the theory doesnt work in all cases obviously some cheap tyres are shite and some expensive tyres are good, however there are many in the middle areas b rated cheapos etc so dont be fooled into thinking price = safety, do the homework!

The trouble is that there are 'standardised' tests - and like the official mpg figures - they mean precious little in the real world when you're in the  and absolutely have to rely on the strips if rubber.

Motoring magazines regularly test tyres and find that despite the 'official' rating the real world tests give different results.  Even if the difference is only a couple of metres that could be all the difference it takes.  To me that's what counts, not a rating plate.

Incidentally the US have reduced mpg data by 25% as that appears to be a good average between the official figures and the real world.  Not that the EU/DfT will ever admit that might be the case here as it makes the Carbon efficiency figures look like a joke.

I have read some good reviews on the Falken FX453's and Hankook Ventus S1 EVOK107's and as soon as my fronts are fully out on the edges I am going to try a set of the Falken or Hankook's.
I think BMW now fit Hankooks on the mini, 1,3 series and new X5

Thanks for the reply, but I think that compulsory govt forced label is worthless for what I want.
I am interested in dry grip,wet grip,  braking distances, durability, traction in snow/mud.
MPG is so dependant on your driving style/condition of car/tyre pressures that its pointless putting it on there. High mileage tyre = no grip hard tyre etc etc.
