So gents am I reading this right? any e7* series X5 and X6 built between april and nov of 2010 is affected. Nothing for older models ie 57' plates to be concerned with yes.

That's what the recall (quality check) note states. You should be fine.

Mines a late 2010 build, dealer told me they need to check prop shaft asap on it, I guess its for this... I was going to have it done with service in few weeks, hope its not urgent...

It will be for this. Urgency is your call. Very unlikely to be serious, but any slack in the joints will need a new propshaft.

Think I will just put it in and have it sorted and serviced soon as they can do...

Anyone got a UK reference to this as my supplying dealer knows nothing about it, I've sent him the earlier HK info but not sure if he can get anything from that.

Nothing obvious on the paperwork I have. No reference but there is a WIP number. Though that might be a Dealer ref as I've no idea what WIP is short for apart from 'Work in Progress'. The copy of the worksheet has neither parts nor time detail as BMW are paying.
Dealers were told at the beginning of last week so they damned well ought to know all about it. They're either not doing their job, or not looking in the right place.
Mine was flagged on the BMW Service systems from my VIN & Registration as it was in the range.
Still nothing on VOSA. The HK text was identical to that my Dealer had against my car.

Cheers Richard,
My local dealer now has something on it, says it came on his systems this morning ??
He's still fairly relaxed as I'm booked in for several days for my warranty work from the 18th March and they will look at it then.
Customer service also mentioned an 'Engine bay corrosion' issue on the E70 that was outstanding on mine yet the supplying and local dealers don't know what they are on about
) Got to love BMW communication....or lack of it.

Glad to be of some help.
And there's an oft used adage in the project management community "80% of projects fail due to a lack of communication".....

my x5 went in today and checked ,dealer found play so have kept car until parts arrive, seems safer to do this in case it fails.

Mine is in at the moment - they said it's the universal joint and initial check says it's ok - but they are taken out to listen for excessive noise and check tyre wear - seem right???

Sounds right. On mine the UJ had too much movement and they just swapped it there and then. It wasn't road tested - presumably because the movement was obvious?
I wasn't aware of any vibrations or increased noise, just a slight wheel wobble.

Mine was replaced Tuesday.
Haven't driven the car since, so can't confirm if it drives any different.
we shall see
