I think that within my budget I will have to compromise on something....

I have only ever owned one car with heated seats and I must admit I did blo*dy like them...do people see heated seats as a must feature???

The car also had a rare roof DVD player and dvd screens in the front headrests.

Well yes, certainly at this time of the year.....but then from around April to November you won't need them, so could probably compromise if the car had lots of other decent features???
I'm wondering how I ever coped without my aux heater, but obviously I managed for more years than I care to remember :)

We have an elderly SLK at home without heated seats and a little Merc A Class runabout - I fitted sheepskin front seat covers to them which are great in all weathers and don't notice the lack of heated seats.......so heated seats are not exactly essential :)

Sounds like it has some nice additions, heated seats are down to personal choice but certainly one of the more useful options you can get on a vehicle.

I have been on a search for about 2months now.. mu budget is 7.5k and really is about the top end.

I am coming to the conclusion that this is what my money will buy...

1) Black, ok mileage but grey/sand leather
2) Black, black leather, all the toys but high mileage
3) Black, black leather, ok mileage but lacking a toy or too

I think I would rather have a cold bum for a few minutes than have my X5 seats covered in Sheepskin!

Lee - Heated seats are nice but not an essential feature like say Sat Nav. My 530d had Black leather and no Heated Seats and it got me through at least 3 winters commuting to work no problem...

I'm the opposite, I love the heated seats. But it's one of those options (for me at least) - if you had it before you'd like to have it again, if you never had it, you'll never miss it.

I'm a wimp in cold weather, ALWAYS cold. Hence the heated everything!

Keep looking and don't get disheartened, the right one will come along soon. Besides all that waiting may mean your budget can increase a little... ;)

I couldn't do without my heated seats now. I even use them in the summer
Due to the operation I had on my back last year I find the heat quite theraputic when my back is aching a lot.

Why?? They're not a permanent fixture, easily removed, and very comfortable even in summer....... And you can colour match them to the seats. Not unsightly, and you can get very good synthetic ones now if real sheepskins are offputting....... I'll never need them in the X luckily, but the other cars where I have them fitted, they are lovely and warm in winter and cool in summer as they are 100% wool. :)

:) I can definitely see the benefits of having sheepskin to sit on and insulate you when driving but you have to remember that i'm just a young lad really and have to be 'down with the kids' - I wear my Trainers and Boots unfastened, I have my jeans hanging on my ass, don't wear hats in the winter.... all because its apparently uncool to fasten your Laces and wear Jeans that fit  When it comes to seat covers in cars, despite the benefits I wouldn't have them unless my interior was green or something!

Glad you keep them out of the 4.8is anyway Condor - it would be criminal to cover that Soft Nappa! :driving:

I wouldn't not get the car on the basis of heated seats especialy if your on a budget. It's all personal choice of course but i had them on my last x and did use them occasionally but don't have them on this one and don't miss them at all.
I don't do many long journeys and i find by the time they have heated up my bigg ass has warmed up the seat already :D

As for sheepskin covers...... not a chance...you may as well don some driving gloves and a flat cap and shout......i say do you know the way to the garden party!

@ Sanj ......have you got sheepskin covers matey or are they on order :poke:

If you aren't getting sheepskin covers for your seats sanj.. you could think about getting some bits just to cover your wood trim? :fuelfire: :poke:

Over the last few mornings I have to admit to badly wanting a heated steering wheel now.

Heated seats make the car feel very warm very quickly, but the steering wheel takes an ages to be comfortable when its -8 C
