1. What type of tyres are your running ?
2. Any shared experience moving off from stanstill uphill ?[/quote]
1. michelin diamaris on 19's i would say there is only about 1mm left until it hits the warning markers, so there is not a whole lot of tread on there!
2. what i was doing and it seemed to work was turn off the traction control when stopped pop it into drive and just let it pick away its self once moving just apply the throttle as easy as possible and just let the auto box take it up the gears. For the inclines just a small amout of throttle and away it went, maybe the power of the V8 helped very little throttle required to get moving and up to speed.
i was easily traveling at speeds of 40mph in the deep stuff while feeling in total control no sharp movements or heavy on the brakes...
once i was upto speed i hit the button for the traction control and it very rarley flashed up the warning symbol.
of course i found it very hard not to have a wee play too, had a couple of nice power slides going on with the traction control off!!

in the pic that shows the road closed sign was at dunblane, i just looked at the sat nav to go through the back streets in dunblane and joined the A9 at the next slip road. For a moment when we were going down the slip road in the deep stuff was think maybe we shouldn't be doin this!!.. but was commited by then so just went for it!!
One funny moment was when we were just north of dunblane where you have a shell garage and a little chef opposite of each other, there was lines of cars and trucks stuck on the opposite carriage way and we came accross the first vehicle we had seen on the carriage way we were traveling on.
It was a rescue land rover that had travelled up the dual carriage and had stopped to help try get vehicles moving on the other side, when he saw me coming he started walking back over to his land rover i was slowing down to speak to him to find out any info on the road. he came over to my window and said "where the hell have you come from!!?" i explained and he was very impressed we were making good progress.
he said o well i wont need to move my landy then, you can just drive round it!!.. i did and on we went!!!
The worst bit was the big hill at auchterarder, was stopped there for a wee while as some cars were stuck in both lanes so couldn't get passed until they moved, spoke to a few drivers and said they had been there for nearly 3 hours already, not fun i would imagine!!
