BUT

Perhaps the car you first test drove & didn't buy had the sports suspension deleted (no cost option) and you've based your original conception from this point onwards.... :hypo:

Good luck with the RR, you certainly won't have any problems with the ride on that.

For me, the ride over very bumpy roads is the worst thing about the X5, but the car excels in so many others areas that it blew away the competition.

Always sorry to see an X'er feel the need to move to the other side.  Good luck with the RR, and don't became a stranger.

Don't worry lads, he will be back here when the RR breaks down repeatedly ( Land rover always at the bottom of the JD survey for a reason )and he gets fed up with the old joke.....

I think you are referring to the old Range Rovers back in the day and not the JLR group brand of products. The TATA owned company now sit way above BMW in the survey charts

My other car is a Jaguar XKR and if Land Rover take a leaf out of their book then they can only rise in the customer service rankings (hence why they are a well deserved No.1!). My Jaguar dealer doesn't seem to know what the word "no" is - they will go out of their way to do absolutely anything they can to make you happy. This is a stark contrast to BMW dealers who try to whip your butt at any given opportunity - examples are BMW's £10-15 a day courtesy car hire (mini or 1 series) to cover insurance costs v a free car from Jaguar (fully loaded XF or XJ if you are lucky). I once said I was interested in the XKRS and they arranged me a blue one as a courtesy car for the day and I never paid a penny !!!!!! BMW would never give out an M6 like that!

I disagree, very much depends on the dealer.  My local dealer lent me a 40d for the day, and I'm sure they'd lend me anything I asked for providing they have it on demonstration fleet.  As for charges for courtesy vehicles, believe these charges are usually optional and just slash the insurance excess should there be a need to claim.

I agree they need to look at the profile of their courtesy cars, can't stand it when I a mini :rant:  1 and 3 series are fine, it is after all a courtesy car and by the very nature of the name it's a free service they don't have to give you!

Your dealer gave you a 40d for the day  please share their details as that's bloody awesome and pretty much unheard of.

As for your comment on it being a courtesy car - absolutely agree; they don't have to, but it's because Jaguar do and they give you a bloody good one at that - hence why they are rated so highly in customer service ranks

My 40d is in for an oil service next week and I asked specifically if I could have bigger car than the mini due to the size of my car and they said Mini's were the only courtesy cars on their fleet....

When I had my X5 my courtesy car list consisted of :
Mini
1 series
Numerous 3 series
Plenty of 5 series including f10 530d at launch
1 X3 3.0d
At least one X5
635d
730d
2 x new shape Z4 incl 3.0
M6 V10 for the week
M6 v8 very for the day
M5 v8 for 4 days, 1st customer to drive it, put 700 miles on it

I'm sure there have been others!

Oh and I refused to pay the admin fee

From Audi
R8
V10 RS6
2 x RS5, one for a week and then other than that top line cars eg 3.0 A6s etc.

Again didn't pay for any

Local Dealer doesn't charge me either.  Mind you they've never got any courtesy cars anyway unless you book well in advance - like a month or more.

My X6 is about to to in to have the parts identified in July (and on order since) fitted.  Good thing we have two cars!!

Ridgeway Hampshire in Hook.  That said I'm not sure bowling up and asking for one for the day will get you very far, they knew me.

Courtesy car wise, these days it's the more mundane 116, 118, 120, 318, 320 models.  But some years back Cooper Croydon gave me an M3 convertible for almost 2 weeks!  I'd had a number of problems with my then company car and they were trying to appease me, my large employer and the leasing company.  There is nothing like the backing of a large company, needless to say the tyres went back a few mm short of tread
