Hi the scanner I suggested gives you the code and you can reset it (or clear it) all without connecting to a computer.
Hope this helps Jim

Hi there......i bought this one off ebay(china) paid £30 inc shipping.
Now im not a mechanic by any stretch.....but got it mainly to enable things that are not enabled at the factory.
For example....my 04 x5 has Aux vent on the screen, but i really wanted Aux heating. So i played about with it and got it enabled......so now i can go out to a warm car on frosty mornings
There are so many things you can activate....like anti hyjack locking doors etc etc etc
And of course it tells you faults.....although like said earlier, some of them mean nothing to me.
Great little gadget tho.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I have an 02 4.6is and would love to reconfigure Aux to heating. Do you remember how easy it was to reprogram the codes?
cheers

Reconfugiring is a tick in the box with the software.
But the unit has to exist in your car.
The unit is standard in diesels, rare in the petrols..
So u have to find out if u have the unit first, that's where I'm unable to advise as mines a 30d.

i have the bmtechnic package too. love it! fantastic guy chris, and of course the tool set he packages is the standard bmw kit - inpa/ncs expert/dis/sss etc. , i think they've repackaged to work in a vmware env. to work in english, in xp or win 7 or so on. the std sw kit is very powerful and also shall i say - more risky, cos one mistake and you can brick the car as well!
in comparison scanner 1.4.0 is a simple tick in the box.
