I think its got to do with getting the right one.  At the time all I could afford was the 35d as the 40d was too new but i wouldnt change it now even though id like the 8 speed box.  And yeah the Idrive can be a bit slow and clunky but I dont find it an issue and at least I can update the satnav dvd without having to pay the £300 or what ever it is too update.

You generally wouldnt notice any real difference in the power, one of the reasons i wouldnt change is that ive got the adaptive drive which makes for a nicer ride and i think this was discontinued from the LCI and is only available on the top of the range M versions now.

Just get the best you can afford and dont discount the 35d

Why did they take adaptive drive off the LCI X5 and 40d versions of the X6?  Or was it just a UK Market thing to keep the price down (like the round exhausts).  It's not even listed now for new builds.

Think it is more to do with giving the M versions a halo and more exclusivity. AD is brilliant. Full stop. Same reason I am so reluctant to get rid of mine...

I have Adaptive Drive on my 35d also. Haven't ever seen another used one for sale with the option therefore like others I'm not too keen to sell just yet.

Just a quick one for those with adaptive drive.....do you have the efficient dynamics flaps behind the radiator grill?

How do you tell if you have adaptive drive? I have a 58 x6 3.5d? Did it come as standard? Mine doesn't have the air suspension on the rear if that's what it is?

easiest way is if youve got a little sport button at the bottom of the gear joystick

Air susp on the rear normally only got added if you have the uprated towing rating.  The X6 is much better without air springs so they weren't fitted as standard, only with certain options.

Through lots of research......well i looked at google briefly, for some reason the ecodynamics flaps are deleted when you have adaptive drive

Interesting. Probably because economy is the last thing on your mind when you are taking full advantage of the AD! :))
