Sounds dubious them not having the nut- at least it will get sorted sooner rather than later, and obviously wheel aligned correctly at your indy i'm guessing?

Yup....still on the ramps.....may yet require a new(£) wishbone as the bushes are just not available....feeling bankruptcy coming on :(

apparently the other side was a doddle to slacken

Good to get the wishbones done at the same time otherwise you could find your rear tyres being eaten away prematurely!

With air suspension pressurised at the back it is very difficult to check a faulty bush, with the sytem being deflated it is a doddle.

I can only console myself that the car when done will not eat the outer edge of one tyre any more. It's almost as if I have to swap 1 and save the other and end up with a pair....not cool and very expensive

mind you so is a wishbone......bang goes the side steps.....new webasto......

oh well...should be back tommorow

HOOOOOORAH

I'm back on the road.....considerably £££££££££££££££ lighter wallet

1 rear lower wishbone
3 bolts....numerous washers
2 new front steering arms...the bits from the rack to the ball joints (2 pieces each side)

.....and tracked

...and it doesn't feel like my car....mind you it doesn't drift anymore and i've not driven it for 11 days

what an epic and expensive episode. Any free gifts to cheer me up welcome  ;)

Now need to keep an eye out for a reasonable a 285 45 19 General Grabber

Glad all sorted.

I just replaced my front lower track control arms and it's made a huge difference to the wobbly braking LOL.

Sorry to hear about your troubles but do you mind if I ask do you currently have grabbers fitter as I was under the impression they aren't available in the rear size and this would be my preferred tyre.

Once agin sorry for the small hijack :-[

19" Grabber UHP are available front and rear for the X5 brought mine last year from Blackcircles all 4 fitted for just under £600 if I recall. I am very happy with them.

Well all I can say is mine now drives in a straight line but probably too late to rescue the tyre....unless it leaves the outer edge alone now. At least my receipts for work done is now growing although I could have done without those bits TBH

It now has had discs and pads all round....air filter and crankcase breather...HIDS (eventually)...too many tyres....a new lower rear wishbone.....rear upper (because they squeeked) arms....new track rod ends with associated steering arms....lots of new bolts....new thermostat....a new temperature climate control unit because the pixels were iffy and one of the buttons was lost....a new steering wheel trim as the other was chipped and worn....a CD player....new aero wiper blades

Needs....
NICE (but reasonably priced) well fitting tailored rubber mats
A new or pair of new rear tyres
The alloys tended due to minor bubbling of paint
Parrot MKi9200
The scratched gear shift sorting

The wifes X5 needs
me to find out what the damn click noise is from one of the two nearside control arms...perhaps bolts again....which now sounds scary
Parrot MKi9200
Squeeky rear arms like mine fixing

.apart from that some sunny weather and giving both  a damn good polishing

As grey dog says they are or were available in 285 45 19 and 225 55 19

I'm a bit swaying towards Hankook RH06 as that's what (again at cost) we had fitted to the wife's X5

That said the Generals on the front have lasted for absolutely AGES. The rears seem not so but then again that's in part due to the abnormal wear.

I'm sort of stuck because it seem wrong to replace one side now at the rear as the right has a reasonable amount of meat on, about 7 mm I'd guess but the left one has about 6mm on the inner but down to the wear indicators on the outer edge.

Must I replace both? I do have a spare grabber that is evenly worn but perhaps 4/5mm with a puncture in the shed
