Ha oh yes ;-)

I did 3/4 tank I think. I think the fuel over there was like 102 or 108 octane so much more than the cars normally used to. I did £600 for the whole weekend trip :( that's why I need LPG in my life!

Your spot on I got brake fade towards the end end of each lap and out of everything the brakes where the biggest failure. I warped the discs and I destroyed a set of tyres to especially the edges and side walls on the left hand side you couldn't even read the Michelin logo lol.
Before I go this year I'm thinking of changing the discs to Brembos and maybe giving the EBC Red/Yellow stuffs a go... Then again its a 2 ton tank why am I trying to make it into a racing car. Realistically its never going to be one.

No chance of that for sure. Saw an aftermath or a crash there and it wasn't pretty. You get screwed big time if you damage the barriers too and even worse if they have to close the track.

Yeah your'e right again. The gear changes were very sluggish and the DSC slow me down continuously out of every corner, I would floor it and it would cut the power for about 4 seconds and then come to life even though I had it turned off.

I'm very tempted to remove all the DSC / traction/ etc. fuses next time but then again saying that it saved my bacon massively on the lap before so maybe not such a good idea...

How knackered were your tyres after doing a few laps ? ..car sounded great but I feel for you being mullered by an Audi TT  :))

Trying to stop a 2 ton X5 is never going to be easy and clearly putting on bigger brake calipers + better brake pads will help. However you will still suffer brake fad if you don't improve the brake fulid by using DOT 5.1 this has the highest dry and wet boiling points you would also be well advised to change the brake hoses to 'Braided' ones. You'll be amazed at the enhanced performance.

Thanks Woofer! Ha I know whoops! I wanted to edit that out really :)... The swift jumped on the brakes heavy but then watching it back after not sure when I was going to plan on braking anyway.

There's a story behind the tyres. I put a set of part worn Michelin's with about 5mm literally a couple of hours before the ferry was due to leave (545pm). Was about 630pm on a Friday and I realised the rear right had a fairly large hole very close to the side wall (The risk of buying from eBay I suppose) So no where was open on a Friday night and I knew they wouldn't repair it anyway as it was to close to the side wall.
I thought Sh*t what am I going to do. Then I thought Halfrauds shuts at 7pm so I rushed there grabbed a can of Holts Tyre weld and took the chance.

I did actually read on the ride of the can "For temporary use only to get you to the nearest garage max speed 50mph bla bla bla"
I thought I've booked the ferry now and it was my birthday the next day I've gotta get to the ring no matter what lol.

I took a massive chance and it paid off! I had it 155mph on the speedo through Germany and round the ring 4 times and it held up! I can't recommend Holts tyre weld enough! It did't even loose 1 psi of pressure But in answer to your original question Yes the tyres were destroyed after that :)

I know shhhh we wont talk about that bit.. I wish I could edit that bit out too ;-)

Not sure if I can afford callipers too I was just thinking new Brembo discs as mine are warped now and also some EBC pads which most people I spoke to at the Ring were using.

I need to look into doing the 5.1 brake fluid for sure! Maybe see how much the hoses are too.

Where does it end though haha.

Cross drilled + vented discs and good pads will help grately, 5.1 is the only way to go and will benefit on road use as well. Can't see hoses being too much but the extra labour will mount up  ::)

as you say where does it all end? well at least doing the brakes will hopefully mean it not ending agianst the armco  :o

This is true! A few metres of Armco would probably cost more than my car at their prices haha
