Did mine myself..
Not for the faint hearted...
Used a company called Robbs Garage (in manchester) for the valve body work who i would thoroughly recommend for that. I think they may refurb boxes also but not sure. Google them.
And a company called AutoTrans in scotland for the oil pump work who i would NOT recommend.. Bad feelings on that score.
Suppliers for parts i used and recommend :- JP Automatics (JPAT) and Automatic Choice.

Was that a "supplied" and exchanged price? I guess you're the one fitting it....that's got to be heavy

I thought that sounded very reasonable, as the general price for a facelift box is around 2k or even2.5k fitted

Yes that was a supplied price.
Ive got a mate to fit it as to do the job on the floor would be a nightmare and he has got a pit in his garage so it made more sense.
I have just been to put the car up drove it 300 yards down the road and it drove lovely in 1st 2nd and 3rd but as soon as it tried to get into 4th or 5th it threw itself out of gear and back into what seemed to be 2nd gear! So we switched the ecu off another x5 but that has not solved the problem does anyone have any ideas on what it might be?
Cheers

Does it use any external speed sensors, some seem to use input and out put speed sensors , but on one diagram it shows the wheel sensors as part of the input, it looks to be some external sensor or wiring problem that is causing more than one gearbox to fault. Maybe a wire shorting to earth somewhere, I tried post a link to the diagram, bit it wouldn't let me.
Maybe it's time to take it into the Auto box specialist, see if they can get to the bottom of this problem?

You have had a bit of a bad run there by the sounds of it. Hope a specialist can get you sorted with the minimum of fuss and further outlay.
Please post whats found as i think gearbox issues are top of the list of things we dont want to go wrong, so i know its no consolation, but your woes may just help someone else out in the future.
Good luck and hope you get a break soon.
