Did they change the engines in the cooperS in 2007, as the ones on Autotrader state a massive difference in MPG between pre. And post 2007.?
The Cooper S in the photo looks great, and they are supposed to be real fun to drive. My first motor was a 1972 minivan. They've come along way since then, ( thank God )

Yes. The engines in the 'original' new Mini (R53) were developed with Chrysler. The late 06 onwards R56 Mini used engines which were shared with PSA and were way more efficient.

Can't remember date so it could be then but they went from being supercharged to turbo charged

Thanks for the info guys, it would be easy to get caught out buying an early 2006 that does 23 to the gallon compared to 35 MPG ( Urban ) for the same sort of money. Also BHP is about 15 better on the newer engine.

Re: BMW 120d sport coupe advice needed
Interested to see how the 'real' mpg is as Mini's are notorious for being about 30% less than the sated 'official' figures. Ours is supposed to do 65mpg but we actually get mid-40s and that seems to be the same as most other owners.
The Mini Owners Forum is flooded with annoyed owners of all the Series 2 models who rightly IMHO expect figures rather nearer the official ones. Seems the BMW 'error tolerance' made it across their entire 'fleet'.

That's right. The switch was made from R53 to R56.

You shouldn't really be caught out. As above, the changes came in with the Mk2 'new Mini'. Loads of changes and looks quite obviously different.
