Hi Imy, the starter motor is £199.95 plus VAT, in total £239.94. On top of that, they charged one hour labour, which is 60 quid.
I suppose they treat the bushes changing as a separate job.

You never mentioned if the prooblem was solved. Is it?
I got back lastnight from 2 weeks in sunny Cyprus only to find today that the battery is dead on my 2005 3.0d. I have trawled the internet, is it me or is this problem always 2005 models? I had the car backed up against the garage door so I can neither access the battery or the garage to get my jump leads out.!!!! Why didnt I just stay in Cyprus with my E70. I'm just sitting now waiting for the AA.

The AA got me going with a simple jump start but found no faults. The dash came up with a few errors, SELF LEVEL SUSP INACTIVE, the 4X4 logo wouldnt go out, etc etc. I tried all sorts of reset techniques all courtesy of the net and managed to get the car back to normal. Lets see what the next few days brings. Wont really know for sure if its sorted until i leave it unused for 2 weeks and the Mrs uses it daily so I guess it will be a while. The only mods i've done are xenons and reverse parking camera, neother of which could be the cause. I'm getting itchy pants for an E70 anyway, i been using the family E70 for 2 weeks and i'm smitten by the bigger boot and 7 seats so the E53 might be gone soon as much as i love it.

Re: X5 battery drain
I have had the warning messages up every time mine goes flat. I only use mine at weekend, some weeks it never moves, so if I don't give it a trickle charge once a month it will let me down, ie, won't start one weekend.
I have a new battery, fitted a Bosch S5 last year, but still will not start if not used for a couple of weeks.
Get a trickle charger, or an E70 I'm sure the E70's will go flat too if not used regularly .
