These seem to all over the place as well these days. Then it's the comments about them not being a true Porsche. I did take one for a test drive and it was nice enough but so many buttons on the console that it made the helicopter look simple.

I never liked them before and tried the previous one before buying my X5 (had it on long test).
Then the new one came out and they gave me a V8 for a few days.
It really showed the X5's age in the handling and ride dept and personally I thought the interior was an improvement on the X5 although your helicopter comment made me smirk.
I wouldn't be looking at a new X5/6 now unless there were some awesome financial deals out there, particularly with the new one just around the corner

I have to agree, if I was in a position to buy new I would be waiting for the new model.

Ditto unless phenomenal deal. The moment the new one comes out it'll dump a load of value ... plus the new one will be signicantly better...

If it was my money it would be on a X6 I just don't think you can beat the road presence of it, everytime I see an X6 my mouth waters, I love them

Re: Can't decide on x6 or x5
Assuming you've already take into account the imminent replacement of X5 and X6 some months after...
Already had an E70 a couple of years ago but the choice was definitely between X5 and X6 this time round - nothing else did it for me and I wanted a BMW again. Couldn't get an X6 last time as they didn't do the 3rd seat option back then and, although I've got 2 kids, we felt we needed the practicality, 'just in case'. Suffice to say, we never once needed to carry more people...
Anyhoo, what swayed me to the X6 this time:
- divides opinion. I like this. I find it hugely amusing that someone thinks they know what type of person I am by the car I drive. Hilarious that when I was bombing around in my commuter FIAT Panda, people said I was clearly comfortable in my own skin. Now I have an X6, forum psychologists would have me down as an insecure, small-wiener'd, arrogant twunt. So, it says, 'don't give a toss' like not many other cars can. Still, it would be a lie if I said I don't enjoy the fact that the car has presence and attracts attention.
- looks are great, to my eye.
- exclusivity
- handling - way better than the, already good, X5.
- more than practical enough for me and the family - wife, kids aged 10 and 8, and have the 3rd seat option. Would have to be doing some serious load-lugging to 'need' an X5 over the X6.
- sheer road presence
All the above make it the best car I've owned to date.

Re: Can't decide on x6 or x5
I sold my x70 for the X6 and I havent looked back to be honest, granted the x6 only seats 4 as opposed to the x5 which I had (with optional 7 seats). There both great cars IMO it all depends what you really need, I didnt need 5 seats (or 7 in that case) so I decided to sell up and get the x6. I also think the x6 looks nicer but I know i'll be shot down for saying that lol

Re: Can't decide on x6 or x5
Thanks for the replies guys, tells me what I found from my test drive last week-the X6 is a great driving car >:D
however, I have never found a decision so difficult lol I have a choice of an X5, X6 or dare I say it a Ranger Rover Sport.
I have asked a few friends what they think and almost all say RRS :'(
