If I had LED number plate bulbs with capacitor\resistor fitted and didn't code out the warning, would I get the warning if the LED failed? hope that makes sense.  so in other words, I want LED's, but also for the car to tell me if the LED fails.

Perhaps.  If fitted in parallel then the resistor will still show a value and that will fool the system into thinking there is a filament there so no.  In series it will only show if the LED goes open circuit and some fail as a short.

I had an LED error free front marker bulb go and it didn't flag up a warning, was only when my mate commented on it that I was made aware of the light being out, as said the inbuilt load resistor fools the canbus light check system, also if you code out the check, you won't get a warning either.

Cheers, I like the white crispness of LED's, but also the knowledge that if a bulb goes, the car tells me.  but I guess I will have to just pick one.  1st world problems!

I have LED's everywhere, inside and out, I have some with additional resistors and some with resistors built into light. I assume my bulb/LED warning doesn't work or won't give me a warning. Don't know really as never had a light go out. I still check my lights every day I use them and still in the habit of checking tyre pressures every week. I suppose the younger generation grow up depending on a warning system telling them when something is wrong. Progress eh.
