For me it was for the remote too and just as its one of only a couple of options I need to complete the sheet....lol

Which ones are you missing? Really wish i had comfort seats,  :(

Don't have comfort seats (but I'm ok with that), rear sunblinds, universal remote and heated steering wheel.

I retrofitted compass mirror on my E53, years ago, could not get it in UK, ended up buying S/H from the States
As regards fitting - it twisted off (very tight , scared me death that I would break it) disconnect harness fit to new mirror and refit.
It has to be programmed by finding a car park and driving round in circles, I found "outpost" the yankee site has a ''how to'' for this fit.

Lol heated steering wheel....the holy grail of extras! Anyone retro fitted one of these? Had hoped the previous owner of my x5 had opted for one but no such luck!

Sanj has fitted it. Managed to get one secondhand off eBay I believe. Very straight forward retrofit as you only need the wheel itself as the wiring is already there.

I did nearly do it but have thought of doing the paddle shift retrofit instead as I did that on both my previous 330d and 530d.

THE best option I have and use EVERY day at the moment. Need the wheel (£330 from the $tealers) and then the relay and slip ring (another £70-£80). I managed to buy and sell my old one on eBay so my cost was £75 for the steering wheel and then the rest of the stuff at £70.

If you can get the wheel, do this mod (uses the existing airbag), and steering wheel is much thicker.

Got quoted £690 for just the mirror this afternoon! I asked if that includes fitting (somewhat sarcastically) and the response was a deadpan "no - that would be extra"

Wow! Did explain i'd seen the same mirror on ebay for £220 but he wasnt interested in haggling! Hate to think how much they'd sell the heated steering wheel for lol

I think a complete mirror is now something like £1,200 which is just nuts!  But then this is where Dealerships make their money.  I dread to think what the markup must be, but well over 100% would be an estimate.

And that's why there is such a trade in nicked parts.....especially mirrors....in parts of the country.
