1. Buy a bucket

Just the one? I was always told to use the "two bucket method"
[/quote]
Which is?

Bucket 1 : For loading Mitt
Bucket 2 : For rinsing Mitt
Load mitt from Bucket 1> Wash bodywork section> Rinse Mitt in Bucket 2..........Repeat.
Some repeat the cycle one panel at a time, some split car into sections such as front, rear, roof, left, right
In ideal world at end of wash bucket 1 is clean water bucket 2 is dirty water.
Some use grit guards in bottom of buckets
Pressure washing beforehand can reduce soil transfer to mitt.
...........some avoid buckets & wash without contact.............ask pvr.

Pvr just avoids hard work!
I jet wash mine first anyway which gets most of the shit off!

)...................I used to use the pressure washer lots but here it's a bit of a mission to drag out, connect up, reel out etc. Instead I frequently wash with mitt & bucket(s).

Jet wash and then snow foam and then 2 bucket as described. Rinse with DI water (which saves a lot of drying) effort and then wax.
I have an extra 200litre water butt at the front which saves unreeling hoses etc....

i first do a pressure wash to remove excess dirt, then a full layer of form (a nice discovery thanks to u lot), then rinse away and another round of pressure wash and lots of drying. on DI water.
can you explain what that DI gadget is pls..
i've been thinking of plumbing in a diversion to the garden tap from softened water i'm fixing in the house lol..
that should enable me to switch between hard and soft water on the garden tap.

The 'DI Gadget' is a container with a few pounds of a special resin through which the water is forced to flow. The resin removes almost all dissolved salts and gives you very 'soft' water from the output.
I think the tanks we have are good for up to around 1,000litres before the resin needs replacing. The service life depends upon how 'hard' your water is. We had a group buy for them in 2012.
No water spots at all on mine when used with new resin and I have a DTS figure of over 500 on the input (zero out) so I don't expect the resin to last as long as others in more friendly water areas. I think the water spots reappear from about 50 upwards. The super soft water need very little drying as it just runs off the car on its own.

Ours was about a ton I recall? Must admit my detailing guy tried it then decided he didn't see any benefits over and above those derived from the ongoing treatments already in place on my cars. Water beading is not an issue as the cars virtually drip dry given the treatments they have had anyway. Then again I do get strip back, clay and full machine every 6 months; with fortnightly maintenance/top ups where necessary.
Horses for courses (not main courses either), and we do get very nice mains water up this part of the world being so close t'Pennines and all that.
