Just be mindful that early 3.0's are of the high road fund licence group, so make sure you budget that in. It wasn't until the SD's and above came in that they reduced the emissions etc iirc.

From launch in 2007 until the SD version launched, the E70 was in Band 'L' 226-255g/km - £450 a year in 2011/12. Later versions are in band 'J' 186-200g/km - £260 a year as the engines are cleaner.

Thanks mate. The ones I've been looking at are Band K? Well, according to Autotrader anyway!

Re: WANTED: BMW X5 (E70)
Make sure the ones you look at have the DPF fitted as the non-DPF are 231g/km, hence being in 'L'. The build date will be the key. DPF models appeared in late 2007 I think, certainly by a point in 2008 the band was down to 'K'.
. After the LCI version in April 2010, they are down to 'J'.

Wow. Just read up on DPFs. Didn't realise diesel fumes were so dangerous! There's me not considering a 4.8 petrol as I would have to gas convert it, and LPG hasn't got a clean bill of health either! Interesting.
