Where do you get the parts to do this job?
Are they just normal shocks from an X5 (3.0i maybe)?

Shocks don't need to be changed. Just order yourself a set of OE rear springs (3.0l model I think) and the spring upper/lower pads to hold the spring in place. That's it tbh and just remove all the air suspension components and code it out.

Re: Converting the rear air suspension to coil springs
Wow that is simple stuff. I will do this mod, the suspension has always been way harder than i expected, especially the rear. I go so slow over speed bumps compared to my old 3 series.
Cheers!
Cheers!

Recently carried this conversion out myself. Works a treat!

Re: Converting the rear air suspension to coil springs
Most of the people seem to do the conversion after experiencing trouble with either the sensors triggering self levelling faults, or blown compressors, valve block trouble etc.
If the rest of the system was reliable and an airbag went, I would be tempted to just replace the bags.
If you convert to coil springs you can eliminate all the woes of the air suspension for good. For £200 its peace of mind, just code out the error message for the suspension.
As for all round self levelling suspension as on the 4.8, that's a whole new kettle of fish.
