I have contacted a homeless shelter company and just need to confirm with him where he will be at what time for them to meet him and we will see how it goes from there

Any genuine person that is hungry will accept food if offered

The one's that want money from drugs or booze must have fallen so low it's  the only way they can now deal with every day to day life
I can see how they many of got that low and like that

Depends on why they are homeless really - some are alcohol or drug addicts  and engage in criminal or anti social behaviour and try to rip people off or get money any which way. Others have fallen on hard times.  Generalising about the homeless is a bit like making sweeping bigoted statements about BMW drivers  :).

Usually helping others does produce good karma eventually, a little altruism in this miserable world makes it a slightly nicer place for a while .

Well done on helping this guy out Jason.

It reminds me of an article I read recently. Can't find the exact one but the link below is on the same lines.

It seems us humans are just not very good at showing empathy for more than one person. I don't think homeless charities do a particularly good job in taking this into account when fundraising - to be honest, the more I think about it, for a country like ours it should be state funded anyway....,

Good on you Jason.  Not many people would put themselves out as you are.

Jason is there no salvation army hostel in the area? They usually help when others don't.

Jason,

Good gesture your making especially with the fact that it wasnt a one off.

In my opinion I think to be homeless in the UK in this century is shocking. The government funds the unemployed, asylum seekers etc (not saying they dont need it) but very little appears to be done for homeless people.

Regarding alcohol and drugs... its a funny one, but then statisctically the majority of people who are homeless are because they are an addict of some sort.
If your addicted to something what are you going to spend your money on, Bills or booze/drugs?
So I guess it logical if you ask a heroin or crack addict if he'd prefer a big mac or a hit, they'd choose the hit.

Good samaritan Jason!

I'm just doing what I feel is right to do to help some one in need and homeless, it's taken me a good few months to get this far in helping him and after he has been on the streets for 6 years
Well this is the update
Stephen came to see me at my new unit in Hayes
He walked past my x5 he spotted and walked back, popped his head in and thanked me as he now has a roof over his head at the end of clayton Rd where he is now staying
He still needs help with money but it's his first step by getting him off the streets at night

That's good news for Stephen to be off the streets as weather is getting very cold and wet now, and well done jason on your efforts in getting I'm help, but it does take an awful long time.

Surely there must be a quicker better way for other people to get housed

I don't know if there is
Nothing seemed to happen after all the calls for weeks I made to the homeless companies that are ment to help these
people

I ended up calling again and told them to search for this thread in google

After that I got update on what was happening and took about 3 weeks

I should post and shame the companies that just fobbed me off all the the time and said they would do some think and go and see him which they didn't

If I add up all the calls I made there's more than 48 hours I've spent on the phone

I even looked into how I could work on the streets to see these homeless people so I could pay a visit to Stephen
