Can I just confirm that you are using an iPod nano 5th gen on your intravee setup without issue?
The reason I ask is that I have just bought the same version iPod and intend to use it in the X.

I can confirm nano 6th gen works so I'd imagine 5th is fine too. To be honest most iPods work all the ones I have tried have think the oldest I used in the past was an iPod mini

Nice to see you back Penny.
It sounds to me to be a loose connection issue within the iPod itself. Hence why it follows when used in a different dock and sometimes seems ok. Within a car environment it may only take a slight movement when docked for it to break its connection. This also would be why using earphone jack etc all work perfectly.
As for the Genesis track. Tis a good tune. Better is Sade (No Ordinary Love).

Whenever I plug the iPod in the Intravee, it starts at the first playlist, first song. Getting a bit tired of Abba after hearing it for the last 5 years or so, every time

Don't forget my iPod always dies in between as I only use the car once in a blue moon

What's the exact model number of the iPod Penny? It'll be something like MA147FB (that's a 60Gb Gen 5 black iPod for the UK market).
A Gen 5 Nano will be fine, with some exceptions! It will require a charge converter as it only supports 5V charging. They are a little funny with hibernation, you really need to mod the KCA-420i or keep the iPod where you can wake it up manually.

What mod do you have to do to the KCA to enable iPod wakup on power up?

Chip mod, or solder by-pass (I think).

Hi Raj
Have to laugh as Sade is on there but prefer Your love is king
. As for ABBA that's on there too and I like gimmi gimmi a man after midnight (to fix my iPod of course!)
And Rusty I have no idea what the lead is I'm afraid

For me a very close second and then it would be Smooth Operator.
