Us consumers are a fickle bunch eh?!
The missus has the family taxi, it's just me and the golf clubs/trolley which live in the 6. I had a 535d for 3 years prior to the X6 and just like the driving position and handling of the Xdrive. Maybe I will change to a saloon next time. Like you I probably fall into the 'why the heck not' category and slave away hard enough to get to a position where I can be a bit indulgent of my whims from time to time ;-)
I was contemplating a GTR for a fair while but just know that my licence would go from 0-12 in about a week if I had one. Somehow a diesel works differently on the brain.....

Hmm GTR, one those cars I fancy but don't want to own - a one night stand in the car world I guess ;)

It was the bloody X5 I got my first points in 18 years in!

Dealer got a note round this morning to say that next build date is October (in USA) with delivery to UK December. I will look again nearer the time then. Shame but I am not [mad] keen enough to agree a price on one and order it 7 months in advance when there is no guarantee on the p'ex value of mine.

Can't be building many then....or only a few slots were given to UK Dealers. Unfortunate for you, but in the current climate and with no p/ex guarantee I think you've made the right decision..

I suspect you would have to hand over the car now, and that's a long time to be without... :(

And 535.....sort your sig out.. :poke: We know you're popular.. :D

I think they (BMW) realise people are expecting 10-15% discounts on X5, X6.
With the 50d models only offering extra 3rd turbo (& obvious performance improvements) with no additional equipment added, it may suffer this expectation of decent discounts so BMW imo are slightly strangling supply to the UK market in preference to more lucrative (list paying) markets. ;)

Give it a year supply will be out stripping demand and deals will be there.

Passed a white X6M50d demonstrator up near Manchester airport yesterday.  Looks lovely, even if glimpsed for a couple of seconds.
Raining today, so decided to hide out on the dealer's on the way home - ended up ordering one.
Quoted delivery for October, with surrendering of the 40d at end of June (no real skin off my nose now that I work 2 days a week in London, travel o/s a lot on work and have a 2nd car in the family).  Ended up getting quite a good deal; matching up the best p'ex valuation I had, with the best discounted price I could find.
Went for the M specific carbon black, individual slate and piano black, adaptive LED h'lights, plus identical spec to the 40d (including the updated stuff like internet and mobile app).
So I am quite a happy bunny today.

Nice choice I drove one yesterday very impressed and the styling looks very nice in the flesh especially the bulge in the bonnet and the engine is immense.
Hope you enjoy it.

As my kids would say, "it sound awesome man".

Well done on the order, and I hope the delivery wait doesn't drag on too long.

I am, like others I'm sure, very jealous.  :)

Surprise surprise dealer contacted me yesterday to say cars not available until December due to engine shortages and scheduled build dates.  Part ex valuation dropped by an estimated 4-5k for another 6 months of use.  It looks like a consistent message so I will bite the bullet, keep the order in and keep driving round in the 40d.  I can always cancel before the November build up date if I decide not to go through with it after all. Sheesh.
