My old man has an old e39 Turks and went into the stealers a good while back to change it for a new one and they offered him peanuts for it so he said stuff it and kept it and it just keeps going and going virtually trouble free (other than the usuall maintenance issues) and he love it.
I gave my 535i to my little brother, I want it back every time I see him pull up outside my house! Tremendous car and still looks brand new (apart from the odd scuff). Better sound system than they put in the new ones and inside just feels quality rather than the plasticy feel they have now. I'd bet they are still going strong when the E60's are hitting the scrap yards - not to say the E60 is a bad car... i'd consider one over the X5 (535d touring or 550i touring).
I was considering what car I might get if I had to come back to the UK to work and commute... I didn't set myself a budget so anything was considered but I just couldn't get past the E39 Sport with the 18" M Parallel's for performance, comfort and VALUE FOR MONEY... a good one with high spec was around £6-7k!!

Ford Focus ST
Mitsubishi 3000GT
Might be a short list but it isn't a bad list! How does the Focus compare to the 3000 GT? Was the Mitsi a Twin Turbo?

Never mind cars, how about bikes . .
FS1E
RD250
900 Ducati
RD250
CBX (and turbo)
Z1R
GSXR 750
FZR1000
Ducati 851
Ducati 916
Ducati 996
ZX10R
Aprilia Mille
GSXR 1000
Cars have always been a way of getting from A to B and keeping dry
But highlights (
)have been
XR4X4 (phenominal in its day)
XJS V12
M3 (Street sleeper car if ever there was one)
The rest have just been MOT's on wheels
But I do like my 4.6is. Or I will when its back together.

Funny you should say that as a mate of mine had a pug 1.9 gti (which was an awsome car at the time)and he went on to a ren 19 16v and said exactly the same

Great car... I remember my mate getting one of these - they handled like they were on rails and the turning circle was brilliant! Nippy thing too!
