Ive noticed a lot of postings saying "I'll claim x, y and z on the warranty and squeeze as much from the warrnaty companies as possible" - and quite rightly so too as that is what it is there for - but do the Warranty folks not just put the premium through the roof in the following year based on the amount /value of claims made ?

Just done their online quote. Sept 2004 4.8is with 62k = £688 franchised and £544 non franchised. Wish I had had this 2 months ago. Just forked out just over 3k for front airbags, new compressor, 2 CV boots, 2 lower control arms and discs and pads front and rear.
Will now wait for the inevitable phone call

Hi,

I was made aware of this breakdown warranty by the RAC http://www.rac.co.uk/uk-breakdown/warranty.html

A friend of mine has this and says its fantastic and has had a lot of work carried out!

Under 10 yrs & less than 100,000 miles £130 UP TO £2000 a single claim and only £25 excess! Sounds good!

But I take it you would have to take out the recovery policy too, unless you have it already!

Roy.

[quote=""philip600""]Hi,
I have a Luxury Care policy with WD
Recently had £ 1500 worth of work carried out ( CV Boots, PAS pipe & auxilary heater ) they gave authorization for nearly £1000 of work no problem & am also hoping they will cover first invoice for over £500.
They initially said no to this as I didn't get authorization but had contacted them via website & got no reply & needed my car back. Will let you know how it goes but really glad I took out the policy :)

Hi, just an update.
I took my X into local indy one Wednesday about a month ago to have them look at leaking PAS pipe & the inoperative auxilary heater. Got a call to say PAS pipe needed replacing & did I realize one CV boot badly split & the other not far behind. They hadn't looked at the heater but as I needed my car back for the weekend I asked them to do the leaking pipe & CV boots & I would arrange to take it back for them to investigate heater problem. Tried to ring Warranty Direct but got put in queue so filled in form on-line that evening, this stated someone from WD would contact me shortly.
Had heard nothing Thursday & as I needed the car I went to collect it late that afternoon. The garage had problems with CV boot & had only done one of these & the PAS pipe so I arranged to take it back to do the other boot & look at the heater the following week. They obviously wouldn't let me take the car without paying so I put the £577.00 bill on my credit card. By Friday afternoon I still had heard nothing form WD so I rang them to explain.
Was then told they would not accept the claim as the work was not authorized :o
I told them that I had filled form on-line & the repairs were on-going & they said they would make notes but to get the garage to ring direct with cost for the other work.
The garage rang me to say the cost of the other CV boot ( £ 177.00 ) & replacement auxilary heater ( £ 810 ) had been authorized but WD would not pay for first invoice. Car was repaired & I submitted claim forms & also a letter explaining I had tried to contact them before the first job was carried out.
Well today I got phone call from WD to say all invoices would be paid :D
I will probably have to pay the excess twice ( £ 50.00 ) as they are treating it as two claims but I'm just happy that nearly £ 1500 worth of work is covered.
Must say I am more then happy with service received apart from lack of response from on-line contact.
Would happily recommend them but advise telephoning them to get authorization first ;)

Phil.

I would say you got a result there Phil.
I've just taken out their luxury cover. After a bit of haggling when they called me back after my initial online enqiury I managed to get the basic cover upgraded to the luxury for the same price, 3 months interest free payments extended to 6 months and for them to accept my Indy specialist as he is not VAT registered.

Hi,
I'm really happy.
Glad I decided to take out a warranty & have no complaints with WD, thought I may have had a bit of a fight on my hands but fair play to them. Will certainly renew it next year.
Phil.
