Re: Sound Proofing the Engine
after having a 3.0i petrol x5 before the x5 and then having other diesel cars and vans in the past i couldent believe how much like a tractor the x5 sounded for a prestige car!

hmm, you could save weight and money by just buying enough of that sound insulation to rig up a pair of ear muffs for when driving!! ![ROFL ](./images/smilies/smilie_roflmao2.gif)

some new cars have active noise cancelling technology built into the cabin. like in noise cancelling head sets (Bose, etc), there are microphones fixed in the hood, which listen to ambient noise, and through the car stereo speakers they emit effectively the reverse wave (easy in theory) to cancel out ambient noise.
wouldnt that be nicer..![Razz :P](./images/smilies/tongue.gif)
So you're going to add a sheet of lead to an already heavy vehicle
I guess you wont be using the church roof alternative method damping material either
Well just a little one, its not heavy as mainly acoustic materials.
Dont get the second part.
I was refering to the growing trade of lead sheet being removed from church roofs
