This morning refitted battery and took it to kwikfit for test. They said battery was showing 63% and needed charging. went to halfords they checked battery and said 61%
don't know who to believe now.
Neither. Don't let either of them even look in your cars direction

Ha! Yeah.
New battery has arrived - for £85 its well worth fitting - hopefully this will do the trick.
Radio module has also been removed and will go for repair - again hopefully all works well when refitted.

Trying to assess whether the battery in my X is causing some problems.
The magic eye on the battery is showing green, and the voltage before start up after sitting overnight is usually between 11.0 & 11.5 volts. Car seems to start without struggling - is that voltage reasonable?
The battery is over 6 years old now, but given the problems that can sometimes be introduced by changing the batteries, I don't really want to swap it out unless there really is a need. Having said that, the 25% discount code at eurocarparts is very tempting!
Michael.

Michael,
i had exactly the same dilemma last week!
my battery would show green after a run, but would quickly go black when left alone showing 11.5v overnight. the car started ok still but i was having issues with the aux heater not running on its own which needs a good voltage.
any way, i bit the bullet before the 25% discount ended, and got myself a nice new s5 bosch battery as i reckoned the old one couldnt have had another year in it being 7 years old.
the new battery definitely turns the car over faster in the morning! and i havnt had to use the aux heater yet to know if thats cured now also.

Thanks for your input.
Any ideas when the 25% offer ends? I suppose if it ends soon, it may be worth getting the battery and holding on to it until it really is needed. Are there any problems with storing them - I can't imagine eurocarparts does anything special with them whilst they are in stock.
Michael.

if u plan to store it for months its ok, if u plan to store for a few years its not ok, cos sealed batteries have a shelf life whether used or unused. (unlike the dry batteries into which we added battery water years ago.. )
on the other hand a battery's life is well beyond the time you'd use the car for yourself... generally speaking, so not really an issue i guess.

i've ordered a Bosch S5 from ECP, £85 i think its fully worth it than having to knock off parking lights and stereo if i'm ever waiting for mrs in a car park for more than half hr or so.. worried that the batt may drain!
thanks for the key
