I always measure centre of wheel to wheel arch before I start then jack under the ball joint to same height from centre of hub to wheel arch to torque up... Easier with no wheel in the way[/quote]
Just to dumb this down, as I will give this idea to my mechanic when he does the work.
So when wheel is on as normal, measure from centre of wheel, up to wheel arch and write it down.

Write that measurement down and then when the wheel is off you can raise up the hub using a jack so's you get the same measurement from the wheel arch to the centre of the hub

Because the bush needs tightening under load (all the weight of the car back on the suspension like when the car has the wheel back on and is un jacked

If your taking it to a garage they will likely do it all on a lift so's no need for this info.
