Mk1 Vauxhall Cavalier 1256cc - bought from my stepmother for £300. It didnt like me driving it much as despite low miles the engine started making noises pretty quickly replaced by a Ford Cortina 2.0 (Ghia no less)..................Many a sideways moment with RWD easy to step out but suprisingly able to be held at a desired angle with relative ease, theafter followed by a Scirroco which suprised me showing an indicated 67mph in second gear.
Oh and bullethead you don't get away with it that easily....................cant be worse than my Cavalier

Mine was a EX POLICE Mark 3 escort 1.1.......vinyl grey interior (subsequently covered with white sheepskin car seat covers) three holes in the roof where the blue light used to be..........one thing about it though......at the time my mate had an RS1600i.......and up to about 40 mine was actually quicker than his........
Oh how I remember most evenings sitting at the top of the mad mile in banstead waiting to annoy people.....well at least up to 40..........sold that and bought an XR3i.....never was quite the same.....

I had a Metro City......I was that basic it has no headrest, no radio and only 1 Door mirror
Yes I did modify it and it looked like a turbo before I smashed into the back of a brand new Fiesta !!

Think this will be one of my biggest regrets in life, not taking photos of the cars I have had. Much easier with digital now so no excusses

My First car was a 1934 ,3 wheeler Morgan family 4, powered by a Matchless 2 cylinder water cooled engine.
3 forward gears and reverse (You coud blank off the reverse and drive it on a motobike licence) , never did tho'.
Ended up turning it over and writing it off, also nearly wrote me off as well, 2 weeks in hosp ,and met late wife as well.(Nurse)
Let it go for scrap, if only I had known what it was worth now and the reg no.

Some of us showing our ages here

I'll have a hunt around for some photos, none to hand at the moment...first car was a maroon (no less!!) Austin 11/55 which I bought for £150 in 1976 after passing my licence a day earlier....spent a fortune trying to keep it on the road, eventually the block cracked

good ol' Leyland!! Replaced with a Mini Cooper in British Racing Green with go-fast white stripe......spent even more money on that (you never learn!!!) and when the brakes failed one day, drove into a Vauxhall Garage and part-exed for an early Astra. Eventually drove only 4x4s for years and see no reason to change that now!!! Had a Nissan Patrol - surplus NATO- in white and chrome - from new. It was FANTASTIC and totally reliable and brought it home to Blighty when we returned, but it was just too big and clumsy on UK roads (did nearly 300 000 miles in it in total and only had to replace a clutch plate!!!)- ended up part-exing for a Range Rover P38, also added an Audi S8 and a Merc SLK to the fleet, all still there

Now the X (brief ownership of the 3.0i, now the 4.8

) I'm all nostalgic now..... must go look up some old photos!!!

Mini for me

....mini 1000 with cooper badges a 2 inch peco straight through exhaust minilight wheels on yoko's, spotlights and a brixton steering wheel

....man i thought that was the best car in the world
I couldn't find any pics of me first but found some of the second....I bought a knakered mini 1275 gt for £80 and did it up from scratch.I spent a small fortune (at the time)on it iirc it was about £1800 by the time i had fully welded everything, repaired the rag top roof and resprayed it (with tins

as i couldn't afford to have it done professionaly)....i must have spent a fortune on cans
Then i thrashed it around the pembrokeshire back roads for aboput 6 months and then sold it for about £400 iirc
Ahhh them were the days in the old minis
Here's a pic sorry about the quality but digi cams wern't about then

and it's aphoto of an old photo.

Great little car. Is that an old jelly mould on the drive ?
Yes and iirc it was a 4x4 ....that pic was taken at my cousins house and i'm pretty sure it was a 4x4 anyway!

I passed my test in 1996 so the car of choice was the Nova SR! It started off it's life as standard silver but within a couple of months it was spray painted Bin Wagon Yellow!!!
There was a leak from somewhere and once when I'd not driven it for a weekend, I got in and there were a few 6 inch high mushrooms that had sprung up in the footwell

My first car was a 1981 Toyota corolla 1600 sr scrounged off of my parents which back in 89 was a fairly quick car.
A
Kept it for around 6 months before buying an xr3i and a 2.8i Capri soon after that.
