i kind a misinformed i guess. the 650 was for the X5 only. the total i pay annually is around 1400 quid. for the cars and the house. it is actually thru a US military company which uses one of the UK underwriters. i've never dealt with the UK company. i call the US company and take care of anything i need thru them. i am stationed in UK and there is only two companies in states that does international insurance for us one of them is USAA the other one is GEICO. geico is open to anyone for insurance. you might get a quote from geico since they use an underwriter here to give insurance policy in UK. i will talk to them and see if they can insure anyone in UK..i am insured thru USAA and their requirement to have an insurance with them is to be in the US military. hope this clears it a little bit
sorry for misunderstanding

I'm with saga
Think i pay around £800, but i did have a claim 2 years ago with them when my now EX partner took my M3 off the drive whilst I was stuck in hospital after just having major spinal surgery after my bike accident. Without my permission I may add, she hit a lamp post and wrote the car off. Hence the EX bit lol....
Saga were great and paid out with no hassle.
Oh and I have no excess on the policy.

I'm with SAGA for my 3.0D Sport and they were very reasonable.

They also have the added benefit of 365 days per year Euro cover all included which is very useful if you have a house abroad. The other companies that provide that are few and far between.

Ah yes, that is a good point.

My 3.0d is "only" £320 to insure for the year, but every trip abroad costs me £28 to get the fully comp addition for foreign travel :x

We've now gone to Admiral for covering our fleet. The three cars are being covered fully comp The E46 is £340, the E53 is £300 and the E71 will be about £500 when it's due next year. Last year the E46 was £800 on it's own!! Unusually Admiral also take my being a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists into account and reduced the policies by just over a Tenner each. Not much I know, but better than nothing.

I've just re-done my insurance and it's cost me £1049, fully comp on the 4.8is. I'm 37 with 9 years protected NCB but unfortunately had a hit and run which then went as a fault claim on my record as the third party did a runner and last year my modded 530d was stolen and never recovered. Also that is like for like on the mods which are quite expensive. Next year will hopefully come down quite a bit as the hit nd run claim will out of the 3 year window.

Raj, this is a big lump to swallow!

I thought it was 5 years for Insurance Purposes? 3 Years is the length that Points count on your licence I thought?

Turks.

Turks, I though that but the insurance companies I've spoken to keep saying next year should be better as the hit and run will be over 3 years.... :?

Who knows but as long as my premium next year comes down I don't care....lol

My insurance is due at the end of September, Swiftcover, who I've been insured with for years have decided in their infinite wisdom to hit me for £967.00 this year, I started looking around yesterday so far I've got it down to £645.00, no claims or convictions etc so I'll keep on searching !

Thought i would bring this back, been as though i have just had my insurance renewal notice through the door.

A bit about my driving, i had to claim last yr for my car as it was a total loss, claimed £3200 my00 subaru turbo uk. Plus got an SP30 may this yr. Now Directline who i have been with for 13yrs for the car and 12 yrs for the house, have hit me with a renewal of £974.14. I had protection no claims for the last 7 yrs.
I'm 32 by the way.

Did on online quote with some go compare

came back with a £710 so on the phone to directline

Phone them up to ask why the daft quote, after checking who i am asked if any things change, i said yes i have an SP30. A few mins later my access is now £850 and £1389 for my prems, I said so your not going to beat swiftcovers go compare quote of £710 then with £500 access NO.

So Who's your insurance with, please can you state claimed prems only and who your with. The wifes going to ring all over tom, but want to narrow it down a bit.

cheers

I'm pretty sure insurance asks for claims/convictions for the previous 5 years

Yes i told them about the SP30 when i got the notice, they told me they have put a note on my docs. As i have been with directline line for so long they no about my claim, i did the go compare and put all my defaults down. But directline have come back at more than double of swinton, but as the swinton cover was done on a go compare i should be able to get this down some more.

My question was ment to mean if any body as got an SP30 plus a default as in a total lost sim to mine, what you paying. This way i can inform the wife to ring these first, saves phoning every insurance in yell.com
