Cars now ready for collection! Dealer raving about it & can't wait to see it. Collecting Friday ;0)
Let's see how the opportunity abroad progresses but I live for the moment and prob look in to professional storage should the time come.

Re: Count down begins!
I'm in my 6th year overseas now, and while I don't recommend it I always leave the cars for a minimum 2 month, Next month when I return the 8 will have been left untouched for 6 months.............. and when I connect the batteries (there's two of them) she will usually still fire up without a problem and there's never been a problem. I left her in the garage from January 2008 until Summer 2009, about 18 months, and short of the batteries not being charged everything was still fine.
What I will say is, if you have a lovely painted red floor in your garage then leaving the cars for even 2 months at a time allows the paint enough time to re-home itself to your tyres!
When I bought the 911 (996) I invested in the CTEK, as it's battery wasn't worth the plastic it was made from and would be dead as a haddock everytime I returned.......... with the CTEK attached all was good. Now I never use the CTEK on the 8 series, I just disconnect the batteries and they've never failed..........
Now, a brand spanking new car I'd be a bit more wary of leaving, but I still would
Worst case you could ask friends to turn it over every month or so and drive around the block until all the fluids are warmed up. But I don't think it'll really harm much if it's in a nice garage, she'll just get lonely....

Re: Count down begins!
One thing you can get is a device designed for caravans which stops the tyres flatspotting where they touch the ground. It's a curved gizmo which keeps the tyres round - and keeps floor paint off em
Have fun picking he car up too. One tip from wen I picked mine up is have a very good look at the paint finish all over. We found two defect and a couple of scratches which the Dealer was very apologetic about and fixed.

Thanks and good advice. Anything else I should consider before driving off the forecourt?
Good thing is the spare 19s are wrapped & in boot (ideal for winter & rough camping trips) but so to are the original kidney grills and head rests which is good should I change the car in future I can keep the DVD system!
Can't wait

Re: Count down begins!
Check all the books have the right stamps in them. I have yet to sign the Vehicle Acceptance and Warranty agreement status as the 'Owner'
in the book. Not that it matters as that is implied by all the other paperwork.
I had a few bits missing that had been ordered like tow bar electrics adapter, key covers and a cargo net which were all the Dealer's job to get hold of. They got them for me in a couple of days. We went through the order sheet line by line and I was not going to be rushed. I think I was there for about 2 1/2 hours before I drove off. The handover team were very thorough and I did not pay until the last moment.

Don't intend to be rushed although I have actually paid already to avoid the silly banks declining the transaction due to the large amount. I be gutted if there is something missing as the dealer is not on my doorstep, it's 5 hour drive!
