Don’t tell BMW, they’ll patent it and make it a ‘special tool’
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I don't believe it's an official BMW reseller, so BMW may try to duck-out of any warranty. However, I figured that a new motor for roughly the price of a secondhand mirror is the better option. The mirror may not be any better than what I already have.sapphireblack wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 6:06 amIf that motor comes with any warranty and the swap means not having to remove the door card, i think that's where my focus would be. Door card removal is always a pita.
The motor should be with me by the middle of next week. I'll do the job the week after that, as the car is away until next weekend getting the Waxoyl treatment.

Sixteen months on, finally fed-up of having to remember to dip the mirror, and also of seeing the LIN-bus error on my iCarSoft every time I do a scan, I finally got 'round to fitting the new motor I bought last year.
Normal service is now resumed. Must have been a coincidence that the failure occurred at the same time I had the mirror cover off.
