I haven’t taken off the timing case covers yet to see just how damaged the guides are but there was no indication that there was anything wrong, rattling/noise. Because of paranoia on this subject I had the sump off on last oil change to look and there was no indication there was any problem and in my head I had decided to take it off every other oil change. It’s only been 5k since that oil change and other problems ment I had to remove it again. So all of that has happened in the last 5k. I consider I have been very lucky.

Another bit laying in sump. It’s the middle piece that’s broken up. I’ll put a pic up. Don’t know how to put more than one pic per post

This next pic is where the secondary air pipe attaches to the engine. You can see it’s completely clogged up, other side is the same. Pipe that fits in there is absolutely fine. If I scrape and hoover that crud out will any bits that go on in get blown out the exhaust. Why is it like that

Next problem, when refitting the crankshaft damper hub bolt which is tightened to 100Nm + 60 deg + 60 deg + 30 deg it shattered at about 100 deg. Will make me very nervous tightening the new one when it arrives. Might just do it the old way, ie Effie tight.
